Vehicle Description

1970 Chevrolet Caprice 2Door Hardtop Coupe
All Matching 454ci Turbo-Jet 345hp engine, THD400 Transmission & Dual Exhaust
29350 actual miles on this unrestored Chevy Caprice in “Like New” condition.

Heres a classic you dont see every day. A 1970 Chevrolet Caprice 2dr Hardtop Coupe. When the Caprice was introduced in the mid 60s, it became the Top of the Line Chevy moving forward.  They were known to have a luxury appeal over the Impala but in most cases, didnt have the high performance engine options or notoriety of the Impala…. This Caprice was the exception!!!  If we can be allowed to exaggerate a bit, we would label this car a Caprice SS… It was built more to the specs of an Impala SS than a Caprice.  While having the upgraded wood finishing and custom details of a Caprice, it does not have some of the features you would expect from a Caprice.   Instead, the purchaser of this car factory ordered this Caprice with Chevy’s 454ci Turbo-Jet 345hp big block with a THD400 Transmission, a Rochester Quadra-Jet 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, all of which are still on this All Original SURVIVOR today.

While lacking an option or two that you would expect on a Caprice such as power windows and power door locks, the real satisfaction of this car is under the hood.  We believe this beautiful Caprice was built as someone’s Sleeper.

The interior is 100% original and in perfect condition. Everything works as it should. Four Season Air Conditioning is ice cold.   There are no dash cracks and all gauges are crystal clear and work perfectly.  Features include power disc brakes (JL2 code), power steering, an 8-track stereo tape player & AM radio.  The beautiful black knit cloth interior looks as good as new and came with head restraints. Hideaway wipers, Soft-Ray tinted glass, a clock that still works, and more….

This Caprice is incredibly close to the same condition as the day it left the dealership over 50 years ago. Take a look at the many photos showing every inch of this car.  You will see for yourself that this is an exceptionally preserved low mileage classic with alot to offer and a long life ahead of it. The overall condition is superb inside and out.  The steering wheel is a key indicator of a cars usage.  It is literally perfect as is the interiors wood trim and seating.  Paint shines beautifully with barely a mark anywhere.  We believe that the rare factory color of Classic White (GM code 10) is all original.   There is NO bondo or rust anywhere. The fit & finish and all body gaps are perfectly straight and in line from top to bottom on every panel.  Every bit of chrome and trim pieces are flawless.

This Caprice has 2 sets of wheels that will come with the sale. The original hubcaps as shown in these pictures, and a set of 5 Rally II rims.  They are also on the car under the hubcaps.  The center caps and trim rings have been removed to fit the hubcaps.  They are shown in a box in the trunk and on the spare (also shown)

The original 454ci Turbo-Jet engine starts, drives and runs perfectly.  Power disc brakes and tires are 80% or better.  You will certainly enjoy this trouble free classic for decades to come!

This Caprice was Sold to L.E. McCain of Bremen Georgia on September 20th, 1969 for an impressive $5005.00 by the Jones Motor Company, as shown on the original documentation.  Documentation is 100% original and includes the build sheet, window sticker, dealer invoice, dealer delivery checklist and original owners manual.  All major engine numbers are matching including the entire drive train, Rochester Quadra-Jet carburetor, alternator and AC numbers have all been verified as 100% original.  This is an incredibly original car with full documentation, an original low mileage history and a powerhouse 454ci Turbo-Jet 345hp engine that drives like a new car and needs absolutely NOTHING!
