Vehicle Description
1977 Cadillac Coupe DeVille
The vision for the Cadillac is based on precision engineering and
the complete luxury experience. This is the reason why Cadillac is
one of the finest cars ever manufactured in the United States. This
tradition will carry on throughout its manufacturing history, and
to this day, Cadillac still remains to be America's finest luxury
vehicles. Ford's vision of precision manufacturing led to the
ultimate reliability of his vehicles. Therefore, Cadillac's
reputation preceded itself as the better-made automobile compared
to its competitors.
For consignment, a very cool Caddy from 1977, and it's all
original, garage kept, and the consigner says it has never seen
snow, was always inside, and always a full tank. Did I hear
pampering going on here? ALL workings "perform as they should"
states the consigner.
Exterior
Seamist Green covers the extra-large steel panels on this beautiful
land yacht. It is sporting a darker green padded vinyl landau top
in near showroom condition, and the same can be said for all chrome
and brite-work as well as badging. All exterior lighting works
perfectly, and spoked chromed Caddy wheel covers are mounted all
around. Perfect green pin striping highlights various raised
surfaces which embellish this luxury vehicle. All tastefully done,
and you are looking at one rad green Cad from its front V shaped
grille to the throwback vertical tail cathedral lights. It's all
looking mint...in color and condition.
Interior
Breathe in the green ultra-padded and stitched split bench leather
"recliner" front seats flanking a dual armrest between the seat
backs. A rear bench stretches form "B" pillar to "B"pillar, and
provides plenty of room for extra passengers, along with the same
embedded armrest in the middle. Door panels are a mixture of green
leather, molded plastic, stainless steel control panels and
wonderful hand selected wood veneers. The doors hold the power
window and power door lock switches, and the mirror adjustment
joystick. The quintessential GM dash with a mixture of wood, green
vinyl and stainless panels. This dash houses a climate control
system, intermittent wipers, power antenna, and rear defogger. An
AM/FM stereo is there as well. Cruise control is noted on the dash
controls, as are self-dimming high beams. The headliner in this car
is stretched and presents beautifully as it hangs tightly over your
head. For your feet the pleasure of thick pile green carpeting,
showing slight fading with Caddy badged floor mats to protect the
carpet. I can feel the waves crashing at my feet, as I breathe in
the fresh shore air and the breeze whipping my hair, sun beating
down...but I digress.
Drivetrain
The big 425ci V8 is attached to a Turbohydramatic 400 3-speed
automatic transmission (say that 3 times real fast!). Topping this
mill is a single 4-barrel carburetor, and way back is a 10 bolt
2.25 rear axle.
Undercarriage
Plenty room for potential problems, however none are really noted
here with clean panels, rockers, and frame structurally sound. We
note front independent suspension, and 4 link on the rear. Power
disc brakes up front, and power drum brakes on the rear, with a
factory replacement muffler and exhaust system.
Drive-Ability
This car was one luxurious drive, in keeping up with the Cadillac
name. No disappointments on the test track where the air blew cold
(R134 converted), brakes were bias free, and the new Vogue tires
held the curves like a new mother holding her baby. After my drive
I took a nap in those green leather recliners but don't tell the
boss man... ("Boss makes a dollar I make a dime, that's why I sleep
on company time!")
Luxury and length at its finest. Cadillac was managing to ignore
the gas crisis that seemed to be going on all around it, and
despite this remained very popular. Grab a piece of GM history, all
in original condition and running like a fine watch, only it's a
Cadillac! Guaranteed to show up to anything in style, minted as
Cadillac Coupe DeVille, a storied classic in the luxury realm most
of us would never have had the chance to have known but now
can..."As it should be".
