Vehicle Description
1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS tribute is a true restomod with a
fuel-injected LS1 motor, six-speed stick, full upgraded suspension,
four-wheel disc brakes, a custom/comfy A/C interior, and more. It's
truly a loaded and sleek machine that was done as a labor of
love.
The restoration of this coupe was completed less than 550 miles
ago. The consignor's father put to together a long-term project of
his dream car. And the journey to perfection is more about the
hours you put into the work than the mileage you put on the
odometer. You can recognize that with the crisp body of this coupe.
The green metallic paint has a glossy finish that loves the
sunshine. The hue is like it was blended from GM's 1968 colors of
Ash Gold and Grecian Green. So the paint is unique to this coupe,
but it also doesn't look out of place in the Camaro crowd. It also
looks correct, because this has the unmistakable look of
performance with the blacked-out grille, hood stack trim,
full-width rear spoiler, and proper SS badging. Plus, those 18 inch
wheels not only add an aggressive stance, but also they hint at the
other performance upgrades within. While it all makes you love this
for a performance machine, don't forget to check out the details.
The mirror-like chrome bumpers, pliable rubber on all windows, and
overall panel fit are all a reminder about the time it takes for
quality.
The interior really drives home the restomod feeling as it expertly
bends vintage and new. This starts with the fresh look on the
upholstery, and the houndstooth cloth inserts are practically a
classic Camaro icon all on their own. The doors, headliner, dash,
and carpeting all has a vintage look and a fresh feel. And you can
see them so well thanks to upgraded to LED lighting. There's added
comfort with a retro sound AM/FM stereo with aux input for iPod,
and the air conditioning is blowing cold with modern R134a
refrigerant. The steering wheel has the classic Chevy look, but it
has a richer wood rim. It's also on a tilt column so you can get a
clear view to the full upgraded gauge package with large speedo and
tach. And have you counted the gears on the Hurst shifter yet?
You'll love popping the hood at all the car shows. The smooth inner
walls funnel all your attention to the tidy and shiny heart in the
middle. In fact, this has an award-worthy look, right down to the
well-fitting engine cover. So you can tell the thoughtfulness was
more than just about upgrading the power to an awesome LS1
fuel-injected V8. In fact, you'll even sport the right supporting
components, like an Optima red top battery and a large aluminum
radiator w/electric fans. The V8 fires up with the ease of a modern
machine, and the header-fed Dynomax dual exhaust lets you know
you're driving something special. This has the right upgraded
power, and so it also has the right tools to enjoy it to the
fullest. The Magnum T56 transmission delivers the extra versatility
of a six-speed manual and the fortified construction for big power
applications. It feeds a stout Ford 9-inch rear before going to the
wide tires that put serious rubber on the pavement. As you look at
the undercarriage, you see upgraded subframes that include thick
tubular A-arms up front and a four-link rear with adjustable
coilovers. Plus, you have power steering and Wilwood drilled &
slotted four-wheel power disc brakes. So this restomod has both
upgraded power and control.
The sale comes complete with build receipts, maintenance records,
and title documentation. When a car is a labor of love, you can
