In the late 1960's Porsche and Volkswagen thought they could
replace two aging models with one. For VW it was the Karman Ghia
and for Porsche it was the 4 cylinder 912. For VW it would be
sporty show room star and for Porsche it would tap into entry level
sports car market. The two companies went into a "gentlemen's
agreement" that produced the Porsche 914.
We have for auction an excellent example of an early 914/6. This
Porsche 914 is the 150th 6 built and only 2 owners from new, with
the current owner in possession for 37 years. The vehicle is all
original with the exception of one high quality repaint in the
original Signal Yellow. This is a great driver's car meant to be
driven. It was the featured in a cover story that appeared in
Hemmings' SPORT & EXOTIC magazine. It is also a multiple car show
winner.
It has its original Blaupunkt Frankfort AM/FM radio, Optima
battery, original complete tool kit, and owner's manual. This
Porsche is completely rust free, and stored in a heated and cooled
garage. Current owner has all maintenance records.
Estimate: $100,000 - 110,000
