For Sale: 1950 Ford F1 in Southington, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

  1950 Ford F-1 Pick-up

Purchased from a carpet installer roughly 8-10 years ago because he remembered riding in the back of the one his Dad had when he was a kid... almost 70 years ago.

The truck was already painted in the NG FM 379 Redfire metallic pearl red paint and the wood in the bed was done. However, the rest of the truck was a mess. There was a funky black shag carpet glued down and the seat was covered in something similar. The truck ran but just barely.

The owner set out to get her totally as good as she looked on the outside.

He pulled the carpet, seat and headliner and had the seat redone in a brown Naugahyde, similar to what it came with; he purchased and installed an original style headliner and replaced the funky carpet with the original black vinyl/rubber mat. He did install insulation beneath the rubber mat.

He built bed rails to match the wood in the bed and then went to work on the mechanicals. The original gauge cluster (which is included) wasn't working so he replaced it, he got the blinkers working and other electrical bits. Recently, the starter was replaced by Joe's Auto Electric in Middletown, CT.

The 239 flat head V8 was rebuilt about a year or so ago by Accurate Machine, also in Middletown. When the engine was dropped in a dual exhaust system with original AM Blue Streak glass packs was installed. The engine has less than 200 miles on it since. This "early 50" has the 1949 3 speed manual transmission behind it, so top speed doesn't get very high. The truck has 47,000 miles total. Around the same time the brakes were done and new Cooper Discoverer H/T 215/70R16 tires were fitted. These tires look very good on this truck and give it an original, tall-thin, black wall appearance.

There is no rust or rot on the truck although there are few small blemishes/nicks/scratches in the paint, with some cracking along one fender/body seam, not very noticeable.

The Redfire paint really shines and looks great in the sun, she runs and drives great, for a 1950 truck.

Turn key, ready to get in and enjoy.

Asking price on this red beauty is $23,000.
