Vehicle Description
The bold paint immediately attractions your attention to this 1968
Chevrolet Chevelle SS Restomod. And it even has everything from a
terrific body to a custom A/C interior to really prove there's been
big investments here. But the real reason why this is so
irresistible is because there's a big 502ci V8 under the hood. It's
even matched with everything from a five-speed transmission to an
upgraded sports suspension.
Let's start with the paint that's instantly grabbing your
attention. It's Viper Yellow, and it immediately sets the right
tone for this car. After all, even though this is a real-deal Super
Sport, the factory could never deliver a hue like this. So everyone
knows right from the first impression that this one has been
upgraded. There's plenty of nicely contrasting darkness against
this yellow. You see it in premium pieces like the black SS
stripes, blackout SS grille, and tinted windows. But there's also a
premium feeling to the dark side with the well-done black vinyl
roof. And the quality feeling continues as you notice the superior
fit of the body panels. And the brightwork looks terrific on
everything from the form-fitting bumpers, to the upgraded 15-inch
Weld racing wheels.
While there was a lot invested in making the exterior look good,
there was definitely money left in the budget for the interior,
too. It's a thoughtful setup where the front bucket seats have a
custom pattern with suede-like inserts. And you might notice these
have yellow contrast stitching to match the exterior. This is also
on the rear seat, door panels, and dash for a detailed and uniform
appearance. There are some nice comfort upgrades, like the
cold-bowing air conditioning, an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo
w/Bluetooth, and a custom center console with speakers. But as much
as these are features for comfort and distinction, this was
definitely built to go fast. You understand it instantly when you
slip into the driver's seat as you grab the Grant GT sports
steering wheel. Beyond that is a full set of digital gauges as well
as a few key analog ones below the dash. And have you counted the
gears on the Hurst shifter yet?
As great as everything else is, it's what in the engine bay that
you're going to love most about this restored and upgraded
Chevelle. The V8 is ready for show duty with a tidy setup, smooth
inner walls, and ton of polished components. The Chevrolet ZZ502
big block crate motor is a truly awesome power package right out of
the box, and this one has a Demon four-barrel carburetor, a
polished aluminum intake, and a set of headers that add power while
contributing to the rumble of the H-pipe dual exhaust. So you have
a fresh powerhouse and a ton of muscle. And because this is a
thoughtful all-around build, you also have the right supporting
pieces, like an electronic ignition, Optima red top battery, billet
pulleys, serpentine belt system, and a large aluminum radiator
w/dual electric fans. This has the right components to get the big
power to the pavement. It starts with the control of a stout Tremec
TKO600 five-speed manual transmission, and that feeds a 12-bolt
3.73 Positraction rear end. And don't forget to check out the
undercarriage photos where you'll see the suspension has been fully
upgraded. This includes tubular front A-arms, a reinforced
four-link rear, and thick sway bars front & rear. Add in power
steering, wide BF Goodrich T/As, and power brakes with discs up
front, and this makes for an easy way to harness big power.
The sale comes with build receipts, maintenance records, and
service manuals. This is the real-deal Code 138 SS396 Chevelle that
has been given huge investment to go well beyond its already
established muscle car legend. So if you want all eyes and ears to
