Vehicle Description
A rare
piece of art on four wheels. Black 1958 Corvette
convertible,
white coves and top. This was an extensive three year restoration
with only 3000 miles since completion.
This rare Corvette was featured in the hard cover book "The Real
Corvette An Illustrated History Of Chevrolet's Sports Car" written
by Ray
Miller in 1975.
This automotive
masterpiece was owned and cherished for over 30 years
before the
owner began the
restoration
process on a well preserved original no hit fiberglass body with
impeccable
panel
fit
and a very clean frame. The body was completely
dissembled and
painted correctly
piece by
piece. The chrome was removed and
re-plated or
polished to a
brilliant shine and new
rubber
gaskets were added for proper sealing. The interior was redone in
dark
charcoal gray Al Knoch upholstery and new white convertible
top, new seat
foam, new carpet, door
panels,
reconditioned and recalibrated gauges,
recovered dash pad and reset the
odometer to 0 miles that now reads only 3000 miles. The owner
chose to
build a later 1958 date code
283/245 engine with most of the correct
components reassembled to look factory original and mated it with a
rebuilt Muncie 4-speed. The Carter 4bbl carburetor was rebuilt and
put on with correct valve covers and
ignition
shielding. Other new parts include, but are not limited to: brakes,
wheel
cylinders,
master cylinder, gas tank and sending unit, stainless exhaust,
shocks, battery, rebuilt front end and rebuilt 336
rear end. Rolling on new wide white
radials with correct spinner caps for that iconic Corvette
look.
