Vehicle Description
STK 2808 1957 Ford Thunderbird
This 1957 Thunderbird is a rare original survivor of the iconic
Ford roadster. The Thunderbird was introduced as a sporty
competitor to the Corvette and many say that the T'bird actually
saved the 'Vette from extinction. The 1957 Thunderbird, in its
third model year, set a sales record with over 21,000 cars sold. It
presented a new front fascia, new rear taillight/fin design and
features from the previous year including a 12-volt electrical
system, deep-dish 'safety' steering wheel and hardtop w/'port hole'
windows. Our T'bird looks very distinguished in what is stated to
be the original Black finish that is still in pretty fair
condition. Classic accents include rear fender skirts, wide-white
tires mounted on color-matched 14" steel wheels with factory
'Sunburst' wheel covers. A white removable hardtop (w/stand) is
paired with a white manual soft top - both in very good condition.
The interior is upholstered in original black/white vinyl and
includes the restyled '57 instrument cluster with round gauges. The
steering wheel has the telescopic feature for easy entry and there
is an AM/FM/cassette stereo system, but it is currently inoperable.
Horsepower is provided by a Thunderbird 312ci engine factory rated
at 245hp and backed by Ford's time-honored 2-speed Ford-O-Matic
transmission. (The base 292ci engine came only with a manual
transmission.) Our owner states that this is the original Y-block
that has been totally rebuilt. It appears to be 'as factory' and is
now fitted with a Holley 600cfm 4V carburetor. One of the options
of the car was the 'Engine Dress-up Kit' with over-sized air
cleaner and chrome accents. The T'Bird chassis is equipped with
power steering and power drum brakes. There are very, very few of
these classic 'survivor' Thunderbirds around for the serious Blue
Oval loyalist and this car deserves your scrutiny. ALL VEHICLES
SOLD "AS IS".
