Corvette built a pickup. - TopSpeed Silverado Callaway review.
Here's how TopSpeed explained the origins of the Chevrolet
Silverado Callaway SportTruck: The Silverado (brand) has some real
powerful trucks in the form of the heavy duty ones, but there is no
truck that is 'fast'; not even in the light pickup category. Ram
and Ford have (had) that covered with the Rebel TRX and the F-150
Raptor, but Chevy lags behind here.... So, it was imperative for an
aftermarket manufacturer to take over the reins and offer customers
what they are looking for, and, Callaway has taken that position.
Offered here is a standout example of the
top-of-the-performance-curve, fast speed truck TopSpeed was writing
about, the Chevrolet Silverado Z71 Callaway SportTruck, in
white-over black leather. In addition to the truck's specific
features, remarkably low mileage of under 7,900 miles more than
qualifies it for the standout accolade. The exterior of the pickup
offers ample cues that this is no ordinary Silverado. Even a quick
glance tells the tale. There's the lowered stance; the twin exhaust
pipes exiting below and behind the right-rear fender; the massive,
exclusive 22-inch black-chromewheels; the performance tires; the
Callaway branding on the front doors and tailgate in individual
letters mimicking the factory Silverado lettering; the Chevrolet
bowtie emblem rendered in black in the center of the grille and on
the tailgate. Finally, there is the fore and aft SC 560 badging
that telegraphs: This is the fast one. Get close enough to hear the
engine note even at idle, and no doubt remains: This is engine
music no regular Silverado puts out. (In this regard, be sure to
view the short walk-around-and-startup video linked at the
GarageKeptMotors site.) Open the hood, and there behind the
Callaway VIN-identified signature data plate, the sinister-looking
supercharged, 560-horsepower V8 engine is the center of attention
in a perfectly clean and tidy engine bay. Callaway-branded
components, including the red 560 logos on the valve covers, bear
out the no-ordinary-Silverado theme. Underneath, the chassis is
equally tidy, undamaged, and complete. Factory-applied stickers and
manufacturing markings remain in place. Open a door and step over
the ZR-71-branded sill emblem into an interior where the
special-vehicle impression is only further reinforced. The
prominent, yet tasteful, Calloway badge centered on the dash is one
reminder. Leather upholstery with gray deviated stitching
throughout-including on the dash-is another. The full complement of
top-end Chevrolet options-from sunroof, to GM's highly regarded
premium touchscreen audio with integrated navigation and internet
capability, to drop-down DVD screens for the second-row passengers,
to embroidered carpet mats-completes the impression. There is no
question why this SportTruck sold for over $90,000 just two years
ago. The Callaway performance package alone priced out at $18,000.
The truck comes with a full set of owner's literature, including a
Callaway certificate of authenticity, Callaway-embossed leather
folder, and two original smart keys with Callaway-branded key fobs.
The remarkable condition of this very special, like-new,
low-mileage Silverado ZR71 Callaway SportTruck is faithfully
presented in the more than 150 high-d
