While the LaSalle was Cadillac's junior, the fact that it only
lasted a few years makes this 1937 LaSalle Coupe a sought-after
pre-war classic. And when this unique vehicle is complete from its
V8 power to jump seat interior, you know you're looking at
something special for a quite affordable price.
This LaSalle makes a lasting impression with a long, pointed hood
and rounded trunk that represents this pre-war era nicely.
Aerodynamics were making the cars sleeker every year, so the
curvaceous fenders and torpedo headlights are as functional as they
are handsome. The tall, narrow grille had become a LaSalle
trademark that created a very unique appearance. The maroon paint
has a nice look with a hint of age that gives this coupe some added
maturity. It's a very complete car over eight decades later, and so
you'll be impressed by the details, like the bright chrome bummers
with LaSalle logo, full-length trim, and correct wheel covers with
iconic whitewalls.
The interior feels like a true survivor. Lovers of originality will
marvel at the look of the gauges or the broadcloth on the seats.
And those who want something fresher can see the value price for
room in the budget to add any improvements. But we especially like
the factory style inside, because if someone had put in a custom
interior decades ago, we would have probably lost some interesting
details, like the two fold-up jump seats in the rear.
Under the hood is a very correct presentation of the V8. The 322
cubic-inch displacement is even correct for a LaSalle. It's smooth,
torquey, and highly related to the Cadillac's hardy V8 (the ones
that would power tanks in the upcoming war.) The engine looks just
as correct as the rest of the car with its large oil bath air
cleaner and dressed in more recent application of green engine
enamel. It's backed by a column-shifted three-speed manual
transmission that is always a fun way to connect to a bygone era.
The suspension is conventional, with a "knee-action" independent
front end. It provides a classic feeling that's also Cadillac-level
plush. So this remains a distinct and solid cruiser.
The sale comes complete with a shop manual and other paperwork.
This is the rare classic coupe that looks distinct and runs smooth.
So if you want to be the center of attention for a surprisingly
affordable price, hurry up and call today!
