Only 12,130 original miles. This is one of only 721 RT/10s made
total in 1996. The Viper is a brute of a performance car. The
concept was similar to the Cobra roadster- an open air, no frills,
light weight car with an abundance of horsepower. 1996 was the
first year of significant revisions, actually 200 in total. The
bottom line was a lighter car with more horsepower!
EXTERIOR: 3 color combinations were available. This one is Stone
White with color matched wheels. I did not see any flaws on the
exterior. Even the front rubber nose looks to be excellent. No
cracks or damage on the body. Rear bumper is also excellent. The
paint shows real well, I did not find any chips or issues. That
doesn't mean I didn't miss something minor. This car has the very
desirable 2 top feature. It has the hardtop painted to match. It
also includes a folding black cloth convertible top that stores in
the trunk. It also has side windows that have sliding glass that
attach to the doors. The windshield is crystal clear. Weatherstrips
are excellent. The 17 inch wheels have Michelin Pilot Sport tires.
The Viper was the first car I remember seeing those high tech
headlights on. The way the clamshell hood opens is rather cool
too.
INTERIOR: Excellent original condition. All the cars have black
interiors. The white cars have blue accent leather wrap emergency
brake handle, shift handle and steering wheel. This one has an
upgraded stereo unit, factory subwoofers, speakers and tweeters. It
also has Viper floor mats. The manuals are in the glovebox. This
interior offers the essentials like sport seats that hold you in
place, easy to read white face gauges and a leather shifter and
steering wheel that the driver gets the pleasure of controling. Air
conditioning and a stereo that will make you feel you are at a rock
concert are the only luxuries.
ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Super clean motor compartment, really it looks
spotless. Very impressive to see that monster V-10 motor with twin
air intakes. It is trimmed out with good looking red accents. The
8.2 litre motor makes 415 hp and 488 lbs of torque. The air
conditioning runs on R134 freon.
TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Very clean trunk compartment. The original spare
is still mounted. There's a custom car cover and the front plate
bracket is included.
UNDERSIDE: New for 1996 was a weight saving aluminum suspension,
25% more rigid frame and a redesigned stainless exhaust that added
15 hp. Under this car is actually really clean. The suspension,
bottom of the motor, the rear end are clean. It must have been a
fair weather car and stored in a dry climate. It has front and rear
independent suspension, big disc brakes at each wheel. The power is
transferred through a 6-speed transmission. Rack & pinion power
steering is effortless.
Compared to a Corvette the Viper has much, much lower production
numbers. Actually they are no longer being made. They are also more
of a true muscle car, really a street legal race car! Great
performance car with investment potential!
I, Jay Grams, take pride in personally writing the descriptions for
virtually every car for about the last 30 years now. A significant
amount of effort goes into fact checking. What I am offering is my
professional impression of the vehicle.
Our salesmen are happy to assist with descriptions and making sure
your questions are answered. One great suggestion is letting us do
a walk around video that explains the car's condition in
detail.
