For Sale: 1969 Oldsmobile F85 in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

Once again, good fortune has allowed me to offer you an ORIGINAL, low mileage Oldsmobile.

What captured my attention on this car is that it is not a 442, it is not a Cutlass Supreme, rather, it is an F-85.  This was the inexpensive way to get an A-Body Oldsmobile.  No frills, no glamor, just practical transportation.

On top of this being an F-85, it comes with great documentation.  The original Purchase Order, Build Sheet and Dealer Brochure offer proof that this car was sold by Scott Oldsmobile of Wynnewood, PA.  The original Owner’s Manual and Protect-O-Plate provide further proof of ownership.  What is also valuable are the repair receipts that are with the car and the fact that the Information Cards are still hanging from the radio and wrapped around the visor.

Oh, but it gets better.  This is an original paint, original interior car.  YES!  The owners have offered it such good care that it has survived in great condition while wearing its original paint and with the original upholstery.  I suppose the fact that it has only been driven 59,112 miles is a contributing factor.  Again, the documents support this claim.

As sold, this car is Sable Brown with a Gold vinyl interior.  The seats are vinyl, as is the floor covering.  It was both Undercoated and Glazed when sold new.  The options include power steering and brakes, Deluxe steering wheel, AM/FM radio and Side Window Reveal Moldings.  The car was sold new with full wheel covers, but someone made the wise decision to install color-matching Super Stock II wheels.

Of course, these car were not great sellers.  Many of them were not offered a good home, or were abused.  Most had six cylinder engines and were just not desirable.  But this car was built with the desirable V8 option.

The 350 Rocket V8 sports a four barrel Rochester carburetor.  The automatic transmission is a Powerglide.  I neglected to calculate the rear end gear ratio, but I am certain it is close to a 3.0 to 1.  At some time, the exhaust system was converted to dual stainless exhaust.  It is a bit throaty, yet conservative.  Not at all obnoxious.

You will find the original trunk mat is covering the original trunk spatter paint.  The original jack set is present and there is a spare tire mounted to an original wheel.  The instructions are original and affixed to the trunk lid.

To enhance performance, boxed trailing arms and sway bars were added by the most recent owner.  Now the car will hook up and handle much better.  Actually, similar to a 442.

The condition of the car also supports the mileage claim.  When you inspect the car you will be impressed with the lack of interior wear and the condition of the exterior.  While not without fault, it is obvious that all is original.

The interior is beyond belief, it is so nice.  The dash is not cracked, the package tray is not warped or faded.  The original seat belts are in place and look fine.  The headliner is original and it is unblemished and taut.  The original vinyl floor covering has just a tiny amount of discoloration due to foot traffic.  The upholstery look great!

The glass, chrome and trim are all in great condition.  The grill, mirror, handles and bezels are all very nice.

The paint has imperfections that can be seen at a distance of five feet or less.  There is shrinkage of the paint that has caused some crazing.  You will find some chips, nicks and dings.  Way down low on one fender there is an area showing stone chips and some surface rust.  Due to the originality of the car, we chose to leave it for you to decide if it should be repaired.  It is not noticeable, but your need to be aware.  There are no issues by the back window.

All features work properly.  Even the original AM/FM plays well.  All lights work.  There are two sets of keys, one of which I believe to be original.  They actuate all locks as they should.

While driving to the storage facility, my part-time helped stated “this thing drives like a new car”.  And it does.  It is obvious that it received great care and was well maintained.  Every owner was mature and understood the value of a nice vehicle.  They preserved the car and maintained its originality.

I was blessed to have found this gem.  And now you have.  I hope you offer it the respect and care it deserves
