The El Camino was produced by Chevrolet from 1959 – 1960 and again from 1964 – 1987. Although it is considered a pick-up it is different than a standard pick-up as it was adapted from a 2 door station wagon with an integrated cab and cargo bed into the body. The 3rd generation was introduced in 1968 and continued through 1972. Based on the Chevelle station wagon frame the 3rd generation models had an overall length of 208”. It also shared exterior and interior trim pieces with the Chevelle. This particular example is finished in Ivory with Tuxedo Black stripes. It was born a Custom El Camino V8 with a 350ci. The 350 that is in it now has a bolt main and is hooked up to a Turbo 350 tranny with a Hurst Quarter Stick shifter. The power is put to the ground via a 12 bolt posi rear end with 3:23 gears. It is fed via a 4 barrel Quadra Jet carb and an Accel electronic ignition and sounds like a muscle car should ripping through its chambered exhaust. The interior was originally equipped with a bench seat that has been replaced with a set of bucket seats and a custom built console. It also has a brand new BT Pioneer stereo with two 4” speakers in the dash and a pair 6X9’s in carpeted enclosures. It has great curb appeal with a black tonneau cover that perfectly matches the stripes and its original rally rims. Enjoy it as it is or drive it while you restore it.
