For 1970 Chrysler introduced the Dodge Challenger as a new model
that was directly positioned to compete against the fierce
competition in the popular pony car market segment. Although the
Challenger was the last entrant in the pony car ranks of Detroit's
Big Three, the sporty two-door hardtop R/T model was well received
by the public and accounted for over 18% of all Challenger
production in 1970. Beneath the Challenger power bulge hood was the
reason for such excitement - the famed optional 426 cubic-inch Hemi
V8 that produced 425 horsepower. Dodge was also no stranger to
offering variety and the Challenger had enough options, trim
packages, and colors for the most discerning consumer. Presented in
its Plum Crazy purple color this 1970 example is one of only 150
automatic HEMIs' assembled and has all the sporty features typical
to the Challenger including Rallye instrument cluster package,
power steering, dual exhaust, bucket seats, center console, chrome
exterior mirror and Rallye wheels just to name a few. A recipient
of a comprehensive rotisserie restoration this HEMI R/T is in
absolutely exquisite condition. Every inch of the Challenger has
been restored or reconditioned to a superior level. This amazing
concentration of detail allowed this very rare HEMI Challenger to
receive a minute deduction of only 10 points from a possible 221 at
the prestigious 2004 Mopar Nationals judging event. Adding to its
collectability is the presence of not one, but five Chrysler
Corporation Broadcast sheets! The HEMI-powered 1970 Challenger has
long been considered the pinnacle of the muscle car era, and
examples as perfect as this do not come around very often. Do not
miss your chance to own a true legend of motoring history. Stock
