This gorgeous example is a three-owner California coupe and one of just 7,502 models exported to the United States. This particular 300SD was literally one of the first coupes to be sold in the USA and was only number 141 off the line in Germany! Made in September 1977 in West Germany, this car was sold new by House of Imports in Buena Park, California and the third owner acquired it in 2018. The original owner was a Richard M of Anaheim, California. The car had its first inspection at 340 miles on December 22, 1977. Its first oil change and second inspection were at 5,378 miles on September 5, 1978. Another oil change was documented at 13,276 miles on December 21, 1978. Dressed in Astral Silver Metallic (code 735G), the car?s paint and trim are in overall excellent condition, with only minor blemishes visible upon close inspection. The bodywork is straight and solid, the seals on the doors and sunroof have been replaced; the engine bay is extremely tidy and the trunk; including carpeting and full-size spare tire is nearly immaculate. There?s also a newer battery, amber driving lights, a first-aid kit, jack, warning triangle and tool roll. This coupe rolls on Michelin Defender radials, size 195/70R14 at all four corners. The tires are mounted on steel wheels topped with body-colored wheel covers. The tires and wheels are all in very good order. The car has a fully independent suspension. Under the hood and grille are a 3L inline five-cylinder diesel engine (code OM617). It is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission (code 722.118). Recent services include the transmission, oil change, fuel injection system cleaning and the glow plugs have been replaced. Brake fluid was added and a new battery installed. Driver convenience equipment includes power four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power locks, power antenna, rear window defroster and fully independent suspension. There is also a sunroof and a passenger sideview mirror. Inside, the interior is upholstered in black MB-Tex (code 101) The front buckets and rear bench seat are in overall excellent order and there are front and rear fold-down center armrests. The complementing black carpet is in very good order, the gray headliner serves as the proper neutral to break up the black and looks great. A black, four-spoke steering wheel faces the driver and the inner door panels are in a similar condition. The instrument panel is trimmed in burled wood and has a small crack at the passenger side speaker. There are VDO gauges in the dashboard but the fuel gauge is inoperable. The center console and floor-mounted shift lever are also in excellent order. Mounted in the dash is a Becker Europa II AM/FM stereo Documentation includes the original owner?s manual; original, stamped service booklet; original engine/chassis/units book; and FM Stereo Radio facts booklet plus build plate and other documentation. If you prefer your classic German cars with just two-doors and the economics of a diesel, then this 300CD may be just the ticket. Please stop by MotoeXotica Classic Cars if you?re interested in adding this coupe to your collection. Coupe competition to this Mercedes in 1978 included BMW?s 528i, Buick?s Electra Diesel, Cadillac?s DeVille Diesel, Chrysler?s New Yorker, Jaguar?s XJ, Lincoln?s Continental and Oldsmobile?s 98 Diesel. This car is currently located at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the odometer shows 98,755 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean and clear, mileage exempt title. Please note that this car is a 1978 model year Mercedes but the title states that it is a 1977 because it was sold new in November of 1977 and the State of California titled it as a 1977. We find this to be common with European cars sold new in California in the 1960's and 1970's. If you have any questions concerning this please feel free to give us a call. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!!?
