For Sale: 1987 Chevrolet El Camino in Ft Worth, Texas

Vehicle Description

In the 1980s Choo-Choo Customs did exactly what we all wished the factory would have done, and made the ultimate El Camino. They utilized the iconic front end and side skirts from the Monte Carlo SS from the same era, added a few more custom tricks, and the result was the coolest car-truck the world has ever seen. This particular 1987 Chevrolet El Camino SS Choo Choo went even further in the 'killer look' department - featuring a slick-black paint job, tall cowl hood, and a Corvette-inspired taillight design - making this Elky so darn cool we barely got in in the door before the crowds started forming. Look close but be quick about it, this baby won't be here long.

There's pretty good reason why you might not have heard about a Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS. They were rare. Less than 5,000 were produced over a five-year period, and there were only 860 others made in 1987 - the final year. But more than just rarity, the cool factor on this is elevated because it's a GM-backed custom build. We all think utilizing the NASCAR-inspired aerodynamics of the Monte Carlo SS would be a no brainier on the similar El Camino, but instead Chevy sent production to be hand completed at Choo-Choo's facility before being sold through GM's dealers. The Choo-Choo Customs El Camino SS package included the aerodynamic front, special designer series door handle inserts, the awesome taillight set-up out back, and the ultra-rare body side moldings with integrated exhaust. But even if you didn't know how special this vehicle was, you'd find it quite attractive. Its slick black paint job gives off the perfect mixture of slippery darkness and shiny flake when the sunlight hits it directly, and even though it has a signs of use here and there, it's still a highly presentable driver-grade finish. It's complemented perfectly by the big cowl hood up front and the slick wood bed out back that's so nice you'll think twice before you haul anything other than a trophy from your local cruise-in. Add in the blacked-out grille, the SS and Choo Choo decals, and those slick American Racing polished alloy wheels, and you've got an unique American classic that drops jaws everywhere it goes.

The interior has a stock premium El Camino feel with some very choice upgrades. For example, the gray leather ProCar bucket seats are both comfortable and supportive, the center console that splits them is a highly-desirable feature, and the expansive gray-and-black dash is a work of art that anchors the entire cabin. There's also a B&M shifter that was integrated seamlessly into the console, a sporty steering wheel that's grippy and adds a touch of flash inside, and factory features like the door panels, carpets, and headliner above are in great shape. This El Camino comes with great factory features such as power windows, power locks, a tilt wheel, cold factory A/C and the original AM/FM/cassette stereo that's remarkably still in the dash. Bottom line, the interior of this Elky Choo Choo is a very comfortable place to be.

The engine is a 305 cubic inch Chevy V8 topped that's very responsive and making the kind of quick horsepower and fat torque that makes us love American V8s. Most of the engine bay looks fairly stock, so it hasn't been modified or abused and the result is a car that runs like new. An open-element air cleaner, chrome valve covers, and tightly packed accessories make for an all-business engine bay, which uses mostly OEM components for reliability and easy service. A 2004R 4-speed automatic transmission means this El Camino is an easy cruiser, and it spins a set of highway-friendly gears in the original rear end. An upgraded dual exhaust system with throaty Magnaflow mufflers sound fantastic and you'll note that the floors are extraordinarily clean, suggesting that this car has never lived in a rust belt climate. Flashy chrome American Racing wheels measure 17 inches in diameter and wear 225/45/17 front and 255/45/17 rear Firestone radials.

Rare, interesting, and exceptionally well presented - this custom El Camino SS Choo Choo is exactly what you're looking for when you want to standout, which is why we know it won't last long at this price. Call today!!!
