Vehicle Description

1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 34 The Razor's EdgeThe Karman Ghia Type 34 made its debut at the Frankfurt Auto Show in the fall of 1961. The Type 34 was neither marketed nor available in the us during its production run from September 1961 to July 1969. Of the 42,500 Type 34's produced, less that 1,200 registered examples remain worldwide. Accord to the Type 34 registry, there are less that 400 Type 34's currently in the US, or which, only 200 are truly road worthy. The Type 34 is known as the "Razor's Edge" in Britain due to its sharp lines. In Germany, the Type 34 is known as "Der GroBe Karmann" or "The Large Karmann" due to its roomier and more luxurious features, compared to its better known sibling, the Type 14. At the time, the Type 34 was the most expensive car in the Volkswagen lineup, costing as much as two Beetles. This 1966 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia Type 34 only shows a mere 34,842 miles. Colored in its original "Manila Yellow" factory paint, it's powered by a 1600CC, 4 Cylinder engine and a 4 Speed Manual transmission. This a true testament to an almost unheard of and rare Volkswagen. This vehicle does run and drive, as well as holds all of its original patina. Un-restored and never modified, it remains a living legend in the world of European nostalgia.
