Vehicle Description
Here's a top of the line, first-generation 1969 AMC Javelin SST
with proper V8 power, four-on-the-floor, side pipes, and an
awesomely slick appearance that will really turn heads.
AMC always did things a little differently, and for those who pay
attention, the rewards can be huge. For example, the model number
tells us this is a premium SST coupe, and when you add in Kenosha's
legendary low production numbers, you've got a cool classic example
of rare American muscle. But this coupe's desirability goes beyond
just rarity. The Candy Apple Red is a bold color with plenty of
metallic that loves to radiate in the sunshine. There's even more
added shine with the form-fitting chrome bumpers, crisp trim, and
those rocker shields drawing your attention to the side pipes. Even
with all this luster, your favorite parts might just be on the
nicely coordinated dark side. It shows off sporty pieces like the
dual hood scoops, side SST stripes, and the rear spoiler. And there
are terrific details everywhere from the color-matched red insert
inside the Cragar SS wheels, to the AMC dealer tag on the rear. So
the total impression, is bright, sporty, and quite thoughtful.
The black accents of the exterior get you ready for the full black
interior. High-back bucket seats, taut door panels, and plush
carpeting with Javelin logo floor mats are all part of a well-done
package. And the wood-like trim is a reminder of the SST's upscale
nature. There are even well-integrated details, like the AM/FM
digital tuner w/cassette added to the stock radio housing. There's
valuable info from the SunPro gauges in the center console. The
wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel feels grippy in your left
hand, and your right one will love the Hurst shifter. And it all
goes well with the large speedo and tach.
AMC's 343 cubic-inch V8 is a great power package, and this
year-correct block is even believed to be original to the car. Of
course, one look at this engine bay and you can see this classic
motor benefits from plenty of more recent investments. There's a
full MSD upgrade with the electronic ignition, Blaster 2 coil, and
distributor. Plus, you'll also spot good wires, hoses, and an
aluminum radiator w/electric fans. Those hood scoops you like to
see on the front help channel cool air into the intake that seals
to the hood. That feeds a four-barrel carburetor on top of an
upgraded Edelbrock intake. And headers feed the side pipes to give
this Javelin a wicked growl. So the full package fires up readily,
runs strong, and delivers terrific muscle car power. You are in
firm control of it all thanks to the four-speed manual
transmission. Plus, power steering, power brakes with front discs,
and wide BF Goodrich T/As complete a package that makes this
powerful coupe a fine driver, too.
It will be hard to find a classic coupe that looks this good and is
rare enough to draw serious attention, even if you paid double the
price. Don't miss this deal. Call now!
