Every car nut on the planet has had an E-Type roadster—or wishes he did have, so here’s your chance if you’re still a Jag virgin! The earlier Series I cars with covered headlights are the usual poster child for XKEs, but they have appreciated so strongly that not many people are comfortable actually driving them much.
The Series II is actually a better car functionally, with its larger cooling system, synchro 1st gear and other driving enhancements, but because they have those federally-required lights, they’re not quite as sexy. Well, how much is sexy worth to you? $10,000? $20,000? A nice Series I today is well over $100,000, and this car is fully 20% less!
It’s a typical 1980s restoration, in that it is a color change from maroon to red and does not have matching numbers—things that weren’t considered important back then. But the net result is a great-looking, good running and nice driving Jag in a much more affordable price bracket. It’s standing tall with correct Dunlop chrome wire wheels, proper exhaust system and clean leather interior. The car is a solid condition 3+ and will provide a lot of fun and not suffer much—if any—value change over the next few years. Even better, the revised price below includes installation of a new clutch.
