For Sale: 1971 Cadillac Coupe DeVille in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

They are only original once.  In this case, it is a Cadillac.  Typically, Cadillacs are well cared for and often don’t get driven excessively.  This car is completely original and has only been driven 48,710.  But don’t be surprised if I put on a few myself.  These are wonderful cars for cruising.

The 472 cubic inch engine appears to have never been out of the car.  Other than tires, belts and hoses, I don’t see that any repairs have been made.  The Air conditioning system still holds R12 Freon and it blows cold.

The white vinyl top is original.  There are no bumps beneath it to suggest rust.  It is not cracked or loose.  The black Leather and Dunbar cloth upholstery is in great condition.  I believe the carpet is original and it is very nice.  It was protected since new by the Cadillac crest rubber floor mats.  The entire interior is really in great condition.

The Cotillion White paint is original.  It shines brightly.  There are numerous small areas that have been touched up and it looks great from five feet.  The stainless and chrome is amazing.  The bumpers are original, but you would think they have been replaced.  The Soft Ray tinted glass is in nice condition and is original to the car.

I purchased this car from the estate of the second owner.  It has always been within an hour of Chicago.  It would seem that it must have been driven year around when new, yet the condition of the under carriage suggests that it has not seen salt.  It was undercoated when new, so that helps protect it from corrosion causes.

The list of options is not extensive, yet provides the creature comforts we typically want and need.  Of course it has power steering and power brakes.  The front are disc.  It also has intermittent wipers AM/FM stereo, tilt steering column and dual remote outside mirrors.  I bet most Cadillacs have these options.  In addition, it has power windows and locks, 6-way power seat, Climate Control and courtesy lamps.  As a full-sized 1971 GM car, it has the one year only flow through ventilation, which is a set of louvers in the trunk lid.

The trunk floor is perfectly solid and rust free.  The trunk has the complete jack set, wheel chock, spare and spare cover.  The original cardboard and upholstery is still in place and looks very nice.

The tires are in great condition.  There are two sets of keys and they actuate all locks.  There is an Owner’s Manual.  All features work properly, with the exception of the radio, which is intermittent, and the transmission that moves the seat.  A new seat transmission is in the trunk and awaits installation.

I appreciate the fact that this car is very, very similar to the way it left the factory.  It has obviously received good care and has been driven sparingly.  Yet, it starts and runs well.  It is a treat to drive and seems quite happy at 75 mph.

As I stated earlier, they are only original once.  This Cadillac has not been in the hands of a young or restless driver.  It has not been modified in any way.  It has been garage-kept and maintained in its original state.  Our job was to discover it, inspect it and to clean and polish it.  Now you have discovered a very nice, low mile, original Cadillac.
