Vehicle Description
1965 Blue GTO
Why This Car Is Special
The Pontiac GTO is an automobile that was built by American company
Pontiac in generations from 1964 to 1974 model years. The first
generation GTO was a muscle car of the 1960s and 1970s era, the
Pontiac GTO is considered by some to have started the trend with
all four domestic automakers offering a variety of competing
models.
For 1965 model years, the GTO was an optional package on the
intermediate-sized Pontiac (VIN 237). The blue 1965 GTO is a
matching numbers original engine real-deal GTO we have at Skyway
Classics that looks as original as the day it was built, with great
attention to detail.
The spectacular GTO comes fitted with many factory options
including console, bucket seats, dual exhaust, air conditioning,
4-speed transmission, and much more.
Mechanical Specs
The 389 in the 1965 engine received revised cylinder heads with
re-cored intake passages and high-rise intake manifolds, improving
breathing. Ours is the original numbers matching 389 cubic inch V8
engine with the 4-barrel carb that was rated at 335 horsepower. At
some point it was switched over to the more desirable 4-speed, but
it is a true YS code engine with the engine stamping number on the
rear of the block (9778789) and the YS on the front.
It looks just like it did as it left the factory back then with the
correct chrome air cleaner and valve covers, PS, PB, and most other
stock Pontiac appointments sitting in a very clean and detailed
engine compartment.
One look at the underside of our GTO and see the restoration of the
frame and all running components too sand it rides on Pontiac
factory Rallye wheels and redline tires with a rumbling exhaust
note from the dual exhaust.
Interior
The interior has been completely redone in factory correct black
vinyl. It has power steering, power brakes, AM/FM Radio, and great
wood in the dash and steering wheels, 4-speed Hurst shifter and
ivory ball on top, and chrome trim.
The rear seat is matching and it has new carpeting and Pontiac
floor mats too.
Exterior
Our GTO is immaculate, pictures will show that and you will see
what we mean when you come see it. It has Pontiac's characteristic
vertically stacked quad headlights, black vinyl top, hood scoop,
egg-crate grille, great body lines and paint, fantastic trim and
rubber.
