Vehicle Description
Ford was hitting on all eight cylinders in 1955, and this
impressive Sunliner Convertible had a style edge even over the
Chevy's Bel Air. And an example like this proves it with an
attractive two-tone color combo both on the exterior and interior.
Plus, the big 272 V8 and automatic transmission were all about
delivering a true drop-top cruiser.
Ford really understood how to deliver a terrific two-tone. It
starts here with the factory correct presentation that sandwiches
Torch Red in-between the white top and Snowshoe White paint. It has
terrific details where the highly stylized full-length trim not
only shows off the well-fitting doors but also gives a clear
dividing line to the red and white. And the color theme even
continues on the wheel and tires where you have iconic whitewalls
and the red steelies peeking out from the factory wheel covers.
Form-hugging chrome bumpers, fender skirts, Ford family crest
badging, and well-done continental kit complete a very vintage and
attractive package.
The red and white interior coordinates nicely with the exterior.
We're especially fond of the tuck and roll style inserts in the
seats. There's two-tone on the door and dash, and the carpeting is
a plush black to show less dirt. It's all part of a package that
says they kept this quite factory correct and also makes the right
investments in keeping it looking great. This has nice factory
features like the working AM radio, power convertible top (will
need servicing to operate,) and the cool clear-back speedometer.
And since you'll be taking this one to the car shows, the heater
will help on your dawn drives.
This was born a U-code convertible, and so it's great to continue
to have a correct-style 272 cubic-inch Ford Y-block V8 motor under
the hood. The golden valve covers with classic Ford graphic, more
gold on the big air grabber, and an overall vintage presentation
really looks nice on this classic. But more importantly, it fires
up with the kind of eagerness that signals good care. Out on the
road, the three-speed automatic transmission keeps everything
running smooth as you enjoy the throaty sounds of the dual exhaust.
It's these kinds of touches that keep the Sunliner one of the
coolest ways aimlessly wander the boulevard all weekend long.
This has the look of an outstanding classic and the obtainable
price you didn't expect. So don't let this vintage V8 drop-top
cruiser slip away, call today!
