Vehicle Description
1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible The seller purchased this incredible
rust free, 80 year old car from the daughter of the original owner.
It had been garaged it's entire life but was in need of a complete
restoration. This is as authentic a 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible as
you will find, right down to the Dill-Cleveland valve caps. The car
was given to her father as a High School graduation present in
1940. The current clear California title shows the car was built in
1939 The seller had this car stripped to bare metal after removing
all of the chrome (which was replated). It was repainted in its
original Monaida Maroon including the dashboard. The tan leather
interior is original to the car. The flathead V8 engine, 3 on the
tree, was upgraded at some point from 85hp to the more desireable
100 hp motor. The engine is equipped with a (backup) electric fuel
pump. The power convertible top was 3rd from the last ever
delivered by the recently defunct LaBarron/Bonnie company. Comes
with a new convertible boot as well. Other accessories included
with this sale are a factory radio (works) a rebuilt clock, front
and rear bumper guards, chrome trim rings, a locking gas cap and
the original dual Smitty exhaust. To discourage its use in the
winter months, the high school grads new car did not have a heater.
The seller has a completely restored heater (not installed) which
will be included with the right offer. The white wall tires are
6-ply 6:50/16 premium Lester's including the full size spare with
tire lock. Also in the trunk is a one piece tire jack as well as
the original tool kit. For safety reasons, a right side view
mirror, seat belts and turn signals have been added by the present
owner. The lucky buyer of this car will also receive an original
1940 owners manual and a custom California Car Cover. Please Note
