Vehicle Description
The WRX is a very capable sports car in its own right, but this
2012 Subaru WRX STi takes its natural abilities to an entirely new
and higher level. Its array of mechanical and aesthetic
enhancements came at the hands of Subaru's own motorsports and
performance division - think of them as the Japanese equivalent of
Rousch or Saleen - so you know they've been done right. The result
is an agile handling, killer-looking ride with plenty of power
that's going to be dominating the corners for years to come thanks
to a recently installed turbo engine. Are you looking for the
coolest, quickest, best-looking small import car on the road today?
Well, you just found it.
Relatively light usage and consistent shelter leave this stock-spec
STi in very good form. It's also had the good fortune to have
steered clear of any notable collisions during its lifetime, a fact
that's backed up by its clean AutoCheck report. Dressed in WR Blue
Pearl paint, it'll stand out in any crowd. Those killer factory
body mods made to increase downdraft and improve handling - the
wider body, integrated front air dam, big hood scoop, flared wheel
arches, and the aggressive-looking, large spoiler in back, to name
a few - show a lot of craftsmanship, as if this Sube was intended
for the track all along. The paint itself looks great - the
coloring is very consistent and the clearcoat provides a strong
shine. Quite frankly, for the mileage it's above average quality
and can be shown off with great pride at the next cruise-in or
track day. The big headlights and auxiliary fog lights in front and
the dual-set exhaust tips peeking out just the right amount from
the rear diffuser out back set it apart even further from its more
commonly encountered Subaru brethren. In our opinion, the STi
consistently beats the EVO, Civic Type R, Golf R etc in the
appearance department about as frequently as it dominates its
competition in the streets and on the track.
Climb in and you'll be surrounded with plenty of evidence that the
STi is endowed with more than just external modifications. The
sporty bucket seats feature prominent badging and are in great
condition, showing no discoloration or signs of creasing, and
bright red harnesses help keep the driver in place. It's actually
hard to find any real signs of usage anywhere you look - the door
panels still appear fresh, as does the carpeting below and the
headliner above. The dash area sports a great, aeronautically
inspired design, with the clear functional gauges residing in its
instrument cluster, with many of the switches and controls residing
in the center stack and console that also houses the 6-speed manual
shifter. Comfort and convenience features are plentiful, including
air conditioning that's blowing strong and cold, power door locks,
windows, and mirrors, and an AM/FM/CD stereo that teams with a CD
changer for added capacity. Multiple airbags offer an added measure
of safety, while the anti-theft device ensures that this street
machine never leaves your possession unintentionally. Super clean
and loaded, what else could you as for?
Factory upgrades to the drivetrain, braking system and all-wheel
drive suspension elevate the STi's abilities to a truly impressive
level. Via special tuning, the 2.5 liter 4-cylinder turbo engine
packs some serious punch - a full 305 horsepower - while a throaty
exhaust system gives it a sound all its own. And fear not the
miles, as the engine, turbo, and intercooler were all replaced just
a little over 6k miles ago at a very reputable dealership (receipts
are provided), so there's plenty of life left in this Sube. It
teams with a robust 6-speed manual transmission geared to take full
advantage of its enhanced output, while featuring a revolutionary
Subaru innovation that matches the elements of the road - the
SI-Drive system with three modes: intelligent, sport, and sport
sharp. The clutch action is light but responsive and the
low-profile shift lever is very easy to maneuver, making this
performer a blast to put through its paces. Even in its stock
configuration, the STi is incredibly nimble, with stiffened springs
and larger anti-roll bars make this beauty an accomplished corner
carver. Smooth power steering makes this Sube easy to navigate,
while anti-lock power disc brakes at all four corners, with sizable
vented rotors in both front and back, bring its set of 18-inch
forged alloy wheels wrapped with Bridgestone Potenza tires to
rapid, fade-resistant stops.
