Vehicle Description
1970 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 6.3 For Sale - Over $160,000 USD Spent
On Restoration LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1970
Mercedes Benz 300 SEL Powered by Mercedes-Benz's venerable M100
6.3-liter engine, the 300 SEL was certainly worthy of the
three-pointed star. It was an engine born and bred on the racetrack
and is still considered one of the finest Mercedes-Benz engines of
all time. The 6.3-liter V-8 was able to get the substantial 300 SEL
to a top speed of over 130 mph and sprint to 60 in less than seven
seconds, an extraordinary feat for a luxury sedan in 1970 and still
respectable today. Adorned with the finest luxury fitments of the
time, the 300 SEL was for those who sought the finest in automotive
refinement. This exceptionally restored example of one of the
greatest luxury sedans ever created, has benefitted from the care
of one dedicated custodian for over 20 years. In 1998, the
long-term owner acquired the car from the second owner and
entrusted Precision Coachworks to complete a concours quality
restoration. Robert Platz has completed many award-winning
restorations of significant Mercedes-Benz automobiles including
multiple 300sl's. During the process the body work was refinished
in Midnight Blue while the interior was trimmed in Parchment
leather and burled wood. German Auto Specialists also contributed
to the restoration by helping restore the mechanical and chassis
components. The total restoration took over 16 years to complete
and with receipts totaling over $160,000 USD. The 6.3 must be one
of the coolest sedans ever built. This one being completely
restored by a marque expert, is a great example that can be both
shown and driven. You can comfortably take four people around in
style with the performance to back it up! Additional Details: 1970
