Vehicle Description
1969 Chevrolet Chevelle COPO Tribute - COPO Tribute - California
Black Plate Car - Award Winner - 427ci V8 w/Muncie 4 Speed
Transmission - Highly Detailed Engine Compartment - Rotisserie
Restoration - Upgraded Power Steering We're excited to present this
gorgeous Chevelle for your consideration. This car is a COPO
Tribute that offers a 427ci V8, 4 speed manual transmission, a nut
and bolt rotisserie restoration, tidy interior, and paint and body
that have been meticulously painted and fitted. The restoration of
this Chevelle was a 5 year labor of love and determination. The car
was purchased by our client in mid 1991 and the restoration was
started in 1995. The end result is this beautiful Chevelle which
was built as a COPO Chevelle tribute. Our client brought the car to
a few shows for fun, and was pleasantly surprised to win a number
of trophies in the car's respective classes. In 1969 there were
approximately 358 COPO Chevelles produced, so as you would expect,
the true COPO cars are rather valuable. This amazing car is
available at a portion of the cost of a true COPO Chevelle. Not
many people were aware of the COPO forms that could be filled out
in order to get a Chevelle with a 427 in the engine bay - from the
factory. No engine swap required. As you can imagine, a 425
horsepower V8 under the hood of a midsize car like a Chevelle is a
blast to drive, especially when putting the hammer down. This car
originally left the Fremont California factory finished in Dover
White (code 50) over black cloth interior (code 753). The current
color of white over red vinyl interior is certainly more eye
catching. Thanks to the addition of the simple contrasting
horizontal stripe just as the true COPO cars had, this car really
turns heads. The paint on the car is glossy, the body panels line
up just right, and all glass, trim and bumpers are in excellent
condition. A few of the highlights of the red interior are a wood
rimmed steering wheel, tach, tilt wheel, upgraded radio, and all
new upholstery. A Hurst shifter was installed to improve the ease
of use of the Muncie transmission. The interior fit and finish is
spot on - all the trim and details look amazing. A look in the
engine bay reveals grease pen codes that mimic those that would've
been there when the car rolled off the line. Just like a factory
built COPO Chevelle, the 427ci V8 fills up the detailed engine bay
nicely. Big block rectangular port heads sit atop the block on each
side, and are topped with polished valve covers. A Muncie M21 4
speed transmission handles gear selection, while 3.55:1 rear end
gears in a 12 bolt case help transfer power to the rear tires.
Other details include, manual steering, power brakes, ceramic
headers, and dual exhaust. A set of 15 Rally wheels wrapped in BF
Goodrich tires finish off the exterior styling. Thanks to a
rotisserie restoration the underside of the car is extremely clean
as well. Our client's eye for detail and desire to make the car
look as close to what it would've looked like right off the factory
floor led to him making sure that the proper stickers and markings
can currently be found on things like the gas tank, springs,
shocks, and the aforementioned markings in the engine bay. This
COPO tribute car has all the right ingredients for fun and for
collectability. A 427ci V8, 4 speed Muncie manual transmission,
rotisserie restoration, and good looks will leave you with no
regrets if you make room in your garage for this special car. VIN
