For Sale: 1968 Pontiac LeMans in Jefferson, Wisconsin

Vehicle Description

This has always been a Minnesota car.  The first owner would now be 97 years old.  He was 45 when he purchased the car in 1968.  He was the owner of an industrial company that is still going today.  His son and grandson now run the business.  My point is that the car was purchased by a responsible, mature individual that offered it great care.  I purchased the car from the second owner, who had owned it for 24 years.  This car has not been abused.  The odometer reading is just over 72,000 miles and that is the actual mileage, per the second owner.

The original Owner’s Manual and the Protect-o-Plate are still with the car.  But the fact that it is still propelled by the original powertrain and the fact that the interior is still original tells me that the car was cared for and garage kept.  The Solar Red was refinished 30 years ago and still looks good.  The top was also replaced then.

The 350 Pontiac V8 starts and runs great.  The Powerglide automatic performs just as it should.  The gearing is more for cruising than for racing.  This is not a hotrod.  It is a muscle car with a calm demeanor!

Power equipment includes steering and brakes, top, antenna and windows.  All work well.  Other options include the pushbutton AM radio, which still plays perfectly.  Rally wheels look so much better than hubcaps.

This is a very solid car.  I can tell that the lower quarter panels were replaced when the car was refinished.  The job was well done and is not noticeable from the exterior.  This car was undercoated when new.  The floors and trunk floor are perfect.  The trunk floor has been repainted with proper spatter paint.  It is covered by the original mat.

Just a few months back, the second owner had the car completely prepared for the driving season.  This included a tune up, lubrication and oil change, new brakes and a rebuild of the front end.  He spent almost $2000 in anticipation of the summer driving season.  The tires were recently replaced, too.  But he found some lake property that he could enjoy with his children and grandchildren, and the car has not received his attention since.

The interior is original.  While it does display its age, it is in very good condition.  The Parchment upholstery is not torn.  The carpet still cleans up well.  The door panels are in good condition.  A new convertible boot was added.

This car is ready for your driving pleasure.  It has all the great looks of a 60’s muscle car convertible.  The color combination is very desirable.  It runs perfectly and is a joy on the highway.  It will get lots of attention no matter where you drive.

Having only two responsible, adult owners offered this car great care.  It has not been abused and still expresses quite a bit of originality.  It looks great and performs like a low-mile, garage-kept automobile should.
