Vehicle Description
This beautiful blue 1955 Ford Thunderbird with a 292 Y-block V8 and
the signature finned Thunderbird valve covers is ready to drive off
the Maxmotive Pittsburgh Showroom floor. This example has all the
great Thunderbird cues too, such as a removable hardtop, fender
skirts, floor shift, power seats, and what many feel is the
ultimate wheel and tire combination for a Tbird -- chrome spoke
wheels on beautiful wide whitewall tires. Among the car's
intriguing features is the hood scoop. It functions to let air in,
and under the hood the air cleaner is configured to what would be
referred to as a ram air system in later years. The performance
aspect of the car is further validated by the factory tach, seldom
seen in the fifties. A trio of Auto Meter gauges in the traditional
under dash location helps monitor other under hood happenings. In
the dash is a neatly installed AM/FM radio that has the stock
appearance but with upgraded electronics. 1955 is the first year
for the "Baby Bird" first generation two-seat Thunderbird. Part
sports car, part luxury car, Ford called it a "personal car" upon
its introduction. It created a sensation and led to the "personal
luxury car" segment. A factory Ford Thunderbird Handbook comes with
the car. See more photos and details at www.maxmotive.com.
