The year 1981 marked the end of the 2nd Gen Trans AM and also the end of the real Pontiac V8. This TA is one of only 2000 Daytona Turbo Pace cars built in 1981. While the 220 hp rating may seem low, it was the top of the heap in 1981. The Corvette was only 190 hp, Z28 - 175 hp and the Mustang was only 120 hp. So Pontiac really was the best you could buy. 4 Wheel Disc Brakes, WS6 Handling Package and the Turbo-Charged decals told the world this car was something different.
