For Sale: 1964 Pontiac LeMans in Sonoita, Arizona

Vehicle Description

1964 GTO (clone), bright red with a black interior built on a straight, solid, low miles LeMans.  Strong 480+ horsepower engine, overdrive, automatic transmission, and fresh rear end all have less than 2,500 miles on them.  New GTO badging and nice original bumpers, nice exterior, and excellent glass.  Nice interior with factory bucket seats, new quality vintage dash, and gauges, door and kick panels in excellent condition.  New black headliner, visors, newly upholstered seats, and new carpet.  Vintage looking stereo.

Engine:  '69 428 Pontiac based 436 cu. In. performance engine with TRW forged pistons and Eagle forged H-beam rods, pocket ported 72cc Edelbrock heads, port matched to a single plane Edelbrock street Dominator intake with Holley 850 double pumper carb.  Comp Cams XE284H-10 hydraulic cam with Rhoads anti-pump uplifters, 1.65 ratio aluminum roller rockers, and all-new performance valvetrain components.  Doug's large tube headers, dual 2 1/2" exhaust with an X crossover, and stainless mufflers.  Electronic HEI ignition.  Deep sump oil pan with windage tray and high-performance pump.  Truck-mounted heavy duty battery and new gear drive high torque starter.

All-Star performance built 700R4 overdrive automatic with a 2,800 rpm stall convertor and electronic converter lockup controller.  Runs strong and cool with a Flow Kooler high-efficiency water pump and large aftermarket aluminum radiator with integrated trans cooler and electronic thermostat/relay controller electric fan.  Wiring conversation completed from the 6V system to the current 12V system.

12 bolt Posi-track rear end with less than 2500 miles since rebuild with new 3.55 gears.  Brakes are excellent and the front has a disc brake conversation with new brakes, drilled and slotted rotors.  New dual master brake cylinder with all new brake lines.  Four new Summit Racing coil springs and shocks (very slight lowering), new front sway control bar, and new rear Air-lift bags to set the stance just right and preload the suspension if you like.

14-inch vintage-style American Racing Torque Thruster wheels with grey spokes and polished rims.  The front end is tight and the car tracks straight and smooth down the road at well above the speed limit if you aren't paying attention.  Power steering works perfectly with no leaks.  Care was originally A/C equipped but the compressor and drier are not installed and are long gone.  New heater core just installed.

This is a carefully built muscle car that you can drive reliably while enjoying the attention.  The exhaust note is authoritative and fairly load under hard acceleration but very comfortable and not intrusive or resonant at cruise speed and part throttle.  When you start it up it barks to life and the Rhoads lifters do produce some lovely noise.  Negatives:  The paint has some scratches, flaws, and a few chips.
