ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP -- The engine in this fully restored pickup is a
rebuilt 302 Ford that has an amazing sound when idling and
downshifting. I am not really sure about what went into the engine,
but it sounds like it has a comp type cam. I am not really sure
about when the engine was rebuilt, but appears to have been in the
last few years or so. The engine does not smoke or burn oil. The
transmission was rebuilt at the same time the engine was and is a 4
speed automatic with Overdrive. Goes through the 4 gears very
smoothly and downshifts very smoothly. Settles into overdrive at
approx. 55 to 58 mph. The truck has a large rear end and will do
well in excess of 85 MPH without any problem at all. It is very
happy around 62 MPH and handles very well on the interstate. I
would drive this truck anywhere! This F1 also has brand new Heavy
duty tires that ride extremely well. The gas tank is a new 25
gallon tank and has been moved to the rear end of the truck under
the bed. The fill neck has been positioned behind the tag that
pulls down to fill the tank. The 1/2 Ton 1950 F1 body is mounted on
what I believe is to be a 1 ton chassis. I am not really sure what
this chassis use to have on top of it, but it appears that the
chassis is not nearly as old as the body. The chassis has marked
improvements in the steering and in the ride over the old 1/2 ton
chassis. The overall ride is much more stable and balanced over the
chassis. The truck is also very dependable. The truck cranks very
well, the lights work as they are supposed to, the turn signals
work and turn off by themselves.
