Vehicle Description
West Coast Classics presents are proud to present an exceptional
example of this custom built 1961 Chevrolet Impala 2 door Coupe
with a new crate 350 V8 440HP V8 engine matched to a 700R4 4 speed
automatic transmission with a shift kit amp; with 4 wheel disc
brakes amp; striking chrome 'Foose' wheels. The car is finished in a
stunning 'Solid Twilight Turquoise' over a 'White' hardtop color
repaint with a new matching Turquoise stock looking interior and
trim. It has has a superb build with an all new drive shaft, U
joints, belts, plugs, hoses, radiator, exhaust and with custom
'Stewart Warner' gauges. The 1961 full-size Chevrolet model was
totally revamped for the new year. As with all other full-size GM
lines, the new cars finally finished with the knee-banger, wrap
around windshields and tailfins and shed some of the length and
width that had been popular in the prior three years. The front end
sported a full width grille with dual headlamps mounted at each end
with the turn signals and parking lamps mounted above the
headlamps. The car boasted all the regular Bel Air equipment plus
Nylon pattern cloth seats, electric clock, full carpeting and dual
backup lights. The Impala was restyled on the existing GM B platform
for 1961. The new body styling was more trim and boxy than the
1958-60 models. Sport Coupe models featured a 'bubbleback' roof
line style for '61 and a unique model, the 2-door pillared sedan,
was available for 1961 only. It was rarely ordered and a scarce
collectible today. The rare Super Sport (SS) option debuted for
1961 and was retired in 1968. The 1962 model featured new 'C'
pillar styling for all models except the 4-door hardtop 'Sport
Sedan.' Sport Coupe models now featured the 'convertible roof'
styling, shared with other GM 'B' full size hardtop coupes. This
particular example is an obvious customized car yet still very
stock looking and boasts most of its original equipment including
the AM radio and with original floor boards and trunk and a very
straight body. It has received a beautiful date correct 'Solid
Twilight Turquoise' color repaint with an 'Ermine White' hardtop
and has a matching interior trim and seats and rides on striking
'Foose' chrome wheels. This car must be seen and driven to be fully
appreciated - the engine is extremely strong and responsive, the
transmission shifts smoothly through the gears and the engine
temperature always remains cool. The car's re-paint is of a very
high quality and in very fine shape and the car has very few
flaws. In summary, this is a wonderful example of a very striking
1961 Chevrolet Impala 2 Door Hardtop coupe muscle car in turn-key
ready daily driving and daily head-turning condition, most
definitely one very collectible and attractive example of an early
sixties full-size classic all American muscle car!
