Vehicle Description
Fine 1969 Chevrolet Corvette.S#194379S732520. This vehicle was
bought in July 2015. Traveled to the just beyond Atlanta to buy the
vehicle. This is a matching numbers car bought new in Pensacola, Fl
on Dec 14, 1969. The build date was Oct 15 1969. The original owner
was Robert W Jacobs (we have the original Protect O Plate as well
as the Build Sheet ). Mr Jacobs was a Navalaviator. He sold the car
around 1975 with 43000 miles on it to R T Haynes, AMarine officer
in Beaufort, SC. The third owner was Commander David Somers Jr.Cmdr
Somers sold the car in 1988 to his son, Cmdr David Somers III.
Thisgentleman kept the car until 2012 when he sold it to Ron Wells
of Charleston,SC. Mr Wells sold the car in 2014 to a retail classic
car establishment inAppling, Ga. My brother in law bought the car
in July 2015. The car itself is a 350 cubic inch/350HP original
engine car. It has the original 4 speed transmission and a 3.36
posi traction rear end. This rear end was replaced in Jan 2000. The
car is an original power brake and power steering car with factory
air conditioning (replaced by Mr Owen with a good working Vintage
Air system.) We have many documents for the car showing all work
done on the car since 1969. In Oct 1988 the engine was completely
rebuilt by Cmdr SomersJr. The block according to the documentation
did not need boring. TRW pistons, bearings, timing gear, etc were
used in this rebuild. The mileage then was approximately 65000. A
new cam and lifters were installed at that time and the heads
reworked. In 2012 Cmdr Somers III did considerable work on the car
including a new gas tank, master cylinder, Pittman arm, water pump
and more($2179.16) The radiator was replaced in 5/2000. The fourth
owner Ron Wells had the car repainted in the correct Code 983
Fathom Green in approximately 2013. The paint is nice, nice.Mr
Wells also replaced the seat covers and carpets at that time. The T
tops are in good shape and recently reinsulated.
