Vehicle Description
1996 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport Convertible. 1 of 1000 Grand
Sport Z16 cars produced in 1996, 1 of only 190 Convertible
produced, Only 4,450 miles showing on the odometer, Fuel injected
5.7/330 HP LT4 V-8 engine, 6-speed manual transmission, 5-link rear
suspension with transverse fiberglass spring, Independent front
suspension, Rack and pinion power steering, 4-wheel power disc
brakes, Preferred Equipment Group 1, Admiral Blue with White
stripes and Red hash marks, Delco Bose stereo, Dual remote heated
mirrors, Halogen headlamps, 6-way power driver's seat, Cruise
control, Leather-wrapped steering wheel, 17 inch Black 5-spoke
wheels, Aluminum calipers. The last of the third-generation
Corvettes boasted Cross-Fire injection and the first lift-up glass
hatchback, the C4 went out with even more panache and power. Two
special-edition versions included the silver-themed Collector
Edition and the decidedly more gregarious Grand Sport, in both
coupe and convertible versions. A fine example of the Grand Sport
is presented here. One of only 190 convertibles produced, this
Grand Sport has been driven just 4,450 original miles, a fact
reflected in its outstanding condition. The Grand Sport enjoyed a
solid foundation, which included the fuel-injected LT4 350/330 HP
V-8, 6-speed transmission, 4-wheel independent suspension, power
rack-and-pinion steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, removable roof
panel, dual remote mirrors, halogen headlights, leather seats,
leather-wrapped steering wheel and cruise control. The exterior
transformation to Grand Sport began with unique Admiral Blue
Metallic paint with a central white racing stripe and red hash
stripes on the left front fender. Huge Goodyear tires mounted on
black-painted ZR1 wheels. Free-breathing aluminum heads, aggressive
cam timing, increased compression and large-diameter valves give
the Grand Sport's LT4 engine a healthy 330 HP. Oversized P255/45ZR
front and P285/40ZR rear tires work with the drivetrain to maximize
performance on road or track. The black leather dual power-sport
seats, electronic air-conditioning control and Delco Bose stereo
help set the standard for this rare special-edition Corvette Grand
Sport. Boasting the highly desirable convertible top, this
low-mileage Grand Sport is one of the most collectible C4 Corvettes
built and would be welcome in any Corvette collection.
