1969 Plymouth Roadrunner HEMI For Sale- Ultra Rare Factory
Black/Black, Hemi, 4spd LMC is very proud to offer for sale this
1969 Plymouth Roadrunner HEMI In 1969 Plymouth's objective was to
offer Detroit's biggest performance bargain. The Road Runner,
priced at about $2,900, was the answer to the blue-collar
performance market. Initially based on a bare-bones Belvedere
sedan, this B-body came standard with a 335-horse 383 V-8, a
4-speed stick and a beefed-up suspension. The 426 Hemi was an
intimidating option, both in price and power. Adding 425 Hemi
horses into the Road Runner equation upped the ante by about a
grand. After a comparatively upscale hardtop joined the original
sedan early in 1968, a convertible Road Runner also appeared for
one year only in 1969. A restyled body debuted in 1970, as did the
high-flying, NASCAR-ready Superbird with its pointed beak and
"towel-rack" rear spoiler. This Hemi Roadrunner was scheduled to be
built on Wednesday, March 12th, 1969 at the Lynch Road, Michigan
assembly plant. It came from the factory in the ultra rare and
highly sought after factory TX9 Black Velvet exterior complemented
by a Black bucket Vinyl Interior. It was factory equipped with such
options as E74 426ci/425hp Hemi engine, A833 4 Speed Transmission,
9.75" Dana 60, Power Disc Brakes and 4.10 Rear Gear. Having
benefited from a complete nut and bolt rotisserie restoration, this
beautiful Plymouth looks like the day it left the assembly line.
The restoration began with a very nice body which was stripped to
bare metal and thoroughly block-sanded into a collection of
virtually flawless surfaces. After it was fully prepped, the car
was painted in its original Black Velvet paint followed by water
sanding and polish to a show ready finish. Powered by its matching
numbers 426 cubic inch Hemi which utilizes an elephant block, cast
iron heads, an over square bore, a forged steel crank, forged steel
rods, forged aluminum pistons and a hydraulic cam to twist stout
10.25 to 1 compression into a stated 425 horsepower and 490 lb./ft.
of torque. The engine compartment is detailed to OEM specifications
with an Hemi Orange block that hangs attractive, Organisol-coated
valve covers over correct low-restriction exhaust manifolds. The
Hemi is backed by a factory ordered correct A833 4-speed manual
transmission and heavy duty Dana 60 rear axle. With a concours
restoration, numbers-matching engine, 4 speed manual transmission,
and factory black on black aesthetics makes this the ideal and
highly sought after muscle car. Add that to the fact that it has
been fully documented with a Galen Govier Visual Inspection and you
have an investment grade automobile. Additional Details: 1969
