Vehicle Description
1952 Chevrolet Custom Gasser
Back before Pro Stock was a thing the king of the dragstrip was the
vintage Gasser. These vehicles were born out of the drag racing
culture in the late 50's and were among the fastest somewhat stock
appearing vehicles of the day. These cars featured modified motors,
tall front ends and significant weight reduction in order to create
the ultimate racer. There are many features that have become
associated with these Gassers and they are still a staple at any
nostalgia drag race you attend. This gorgeous 52 Chevrolet has been
professionally built from top to bottom to pay homage to the
vintage Gasser while also being a top level show car. It is
extremely unique and whether you are a dragstrip regularly or
someone discovering Gassers for the first time it does a good job
of representing a very important part of custom car history. The
car has had a ton of love, time, and of course dollars invested
into it to transform it into the car you see today. With all of the
highly detailed work there is no doubt that we will have missed
some notable features.
Starting with the body the car is in excellent condition. It is
entirely rust free throughout and is the quality you would expect
from a high level show competitor. It is coated in a custom mix PPG
Candy Apple Red that has had 5 coats applied over top of an Argent
Silver color. It was then finished off with 6 coats of PPG clear
for a slick glossy finish that shines like a mirror. During the
full frame off build the entire underbody and all metal surfaces
was sprayed with Lizard Skin both for long term protection and for
the Heat/Sound deadening. The front end has all been welded
together and reinforced with steel to be strong while providing the
full tilt front look. It has custom fender alignment pins and an
electric actuator to open it up. The deck lid also has a custom
actuator and has been shaved. All of the stainless/chrome work has
a beautiful finish and in the Gasser style the front bumper has
been removed. All of the glass throughout has been replaced except
for the rear window which is original. In an effort to tribute the
original Gassers while having the strength of glass the windows are
all tinted in a Red hue like what a lot of people did with plexi
windows for the dragstrip. The wheels provide the total 50's racer
look with Rocket 12 spokes up front and Rocket 5 spokes in the
back. Both wear Firestone tires and in the rear it has wid white
Dragster Bottle Cap Cheater slicks which are a perfect touch of
nostalgia.
As if you couldn't tell already, one peak at the undercarriage will
make it very clear how nice the quality of this build is. It is
very worthy of having mirrors underneath showing it off. That being
said, in addition to looking good the car was built right. The
undercarriage is the original perimeter but utilizes 2x3 reinforced
additions and was extended to accommodate a straight axle. This
front axle came from Speedway and utilizes all new Carrera chrome
shocks and a chrome axle. The rear end is a Fort 9 inch from John's
Industries and has a new housing, nodular iron center with 3:50
Richmond gears on Detroit Locker billet aluminum pinion carrier,
Moser 35 spline axles and Ford drum brakes. The brakes up front are
Wilwood discs but have custom SoCal Buick brake covers. Other
components underneath this beauty include Chrome QA1 coil over rear
shocks, with lateral locating leaf springs, custom built ladder
bars, all stainless steel brake lines, powder coated springs, and a
Speedway vertical drop steering system to get the proper U-joint
geometry.

Paired with the motor is a TH400 automatic transmission with 3500
custom stall converter, billet input and output shafts, and red
line clutch rated at 1500HP. So while the car lives it's life as a
show car currently, should you decide the track is where you want
it, the car was set up to handle it. It was also custom built with
a reverse valve body and trans brake. The electrical is all cleanly
done with an American AutoWire HWY 22 kit with Watson street works
billet switches/buttons throughout.
The interior is very well done with White leather throughout. The
bucket seats with 5 point harnesses sit to each side of a nicely
painted to match custom center console. The dash is nicely painted
and features some of the original trim along with NUVO gauges and a
Sun Tack. The roll bar is painted to match the body as well and is
all custom built to be inset into the dash for a very well thought
out construction.
As we mentioned before. There is no doubt in our minds that we have
missed some information somewhere on this car. It is well
documented and an extremely high end build. It is easily one of the
nicest Gasser tribute cars out there!
This one of a kind custom could be yours for $103,500.00!
