For Sale: 1955 Ford Thunderbird in Volo, Illinois

Vehicle Description

$80,000 rotisserie restoration. From the very prestigious John Woodhead lll Ford collection/museum. Only 850 miles since completed. The Goldenrod yellow is certainly striking. It is a very rare color not offered until late in production. This one is very well optioned too with power steering, brakes and seat, auto trans, convertible top and more.

EXTERIOR: Code V- Goldenrod yellow. This color pops! Very rare and desirable, I have only seen a few. Those big white wall tires wrapped around the wire basket hubcaps is gorgeous. The body was professionally restored. It's straight and fits better than it did when it was new. No rust. The paint is polished like glass but it is over 20 years old and has some places where it is lifting. Every single piece of chrome and trim has been restored or replaced. New windshield and gasket. All new weatherstrips. The jambs are meticulously restored. It has a genuine Ford convertible frame that was restored like new. It has a rich black German cloth top.

INTERIOR: Meticulously restored down to the last little detail. I'm looking at a pristine dashboard. All the lenses, gauges, knobs are excellent. The steering wheel is restored, the horn ring is not broken off like most. Correct two tone yellow and black upholstery on the seats and door panels. The machine turned trim is excellent. Handles and cranks have been replaced. Correct carpet was installed. Has Thunderbird floor mats. Even the glovebox is pristine, has fresh hardware, reproduction decals.

ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Completely disassembled down to the last bolt and restored to concourse condition. It has the factory paint okay stamps, proper decals, reproduction hoses and clamps, Ford washer bag. 2 very desirable features include power steering and power brakes. It also has the engine dress up kit which is a chrome air cleaner lid, oil cap and finned aluminum valve covers. Wiring was replaced. Every component was rebuilt. New battery with a topper to look original.

TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Concourse condition. It has a matching white wall on a yellow painted rim for a spare bolted down properly. The jack is restored like new. Clean metal is all painted a smooth glossy yellow. It has the proper rubber mat, the panels on the sides and even the seat divider was replaced. It has jack instructions, new weatherstrip and restored latch.

UNDERSIDE: Wow! The body was removed from the frame and flipped on a rotisserie so the bottom could be restored as good as the top. No undercoat, no rust. It is super clean metal painted gloss goldenrod yellow. The frame was stripped and painted gloss black. Every single component was restored. The entire front suspension and steering was rebuilt. The rear suspension including springs, shackles, bushings and shocks were replaced. The exhaust system is stainless steel. The brakes were completely rebuilt. E-brake assembly is complete. Looking up at the motor it is spotless. The Ford-o-matic looks spotless. Fuel system was completely replaced, the tank is shiny. Every single component was restored and detailed. Every last bolt, clip and clamp looks new. Done to concourse specs- correct oil filter, has tape on the body bushings.

This would cost everybit of $100,000 to duplicate this level of restoration today, plus the cost of the car. It is gorgeous as it sits or just 2-3 thousand dollars would make the paint pristine again. You will feel very proud to own and drive this jewel!
