Vehicle Description
Traditional Italian craftsmanship and cutting-edge engineering
intersect in this 1998 Ferrari F355 F1 Berlinetta. With just 3
owners and 29,412 original miles, the Giallo Modena and black
Connolly leather-upholstered F355 earned its F1 designation when
Ferrari tapped into its Formula One race program in 1997 and
created the first production automobile outfitted with an
electro-hydraulically operated automated manual 6-speed
transmission. Race-winning performance technology and refined
driver ergonomics made the 1994-99 F355 one of the most popular and
desirable Ferraris in its time, and that performance heritage
drives on today. The mid-mounted 3.5L V-8 was equipped with DOHC,
titanium-alloy connecting rods, dry-sump oiling and Bosch engine
management for a factory tested 375 HP at 8,250 RPM.
Steering-wheel-mounted paddle-shift controls work with the
electro-hydraulically activated single-plate clutch, 6-speed
gearbox and limited-slip differential to channel uninterrupted
power to the rear wheels. Tuned independent suspension with
dual-mode electronic damping control, power-assisted
rack-and-pinion steering and 4-wheel vented disc brakes deliver
unparalleled driver feedback and road control without compromise in
comfort over road or track. The steel and aluminum body
incorporates Pininfarina design backed up by extensive wind-tunnel
testing with functional aerodynamic elements and an F1-derived
undertray for low drag, equalized downforce and high-speed
stability. The black leather interior is hand finished with
bolstered bucket seats, power windows and locks, cold air
conditioning, and an AM/FM cassette stereo for convenience and
entertainment. Sports steering wheel with airbag sits over
traditional recessed instrumentation and digital gear indicator for
the paddle-shifted F1 transmission. The car starts instantly and
runs great. It has excellent road feel and handles as it should The
brakes feel solid and track straight. The car includes a full
complement of the factory tools in their original holders and
leather case. The original set of books are present and have the
stamp from its last major dealer service (30,000 mile service
including the belt service) completed in 2013 with 24,379 miles on
it. The interior presents nicely, showing only minor wear on the
driver side seat bolster. The dash and instruments are excellent.
The buttons are NOT sticky. The paint is in very nice condition,
showing only minor evidence of age and exposure from the years.
