Vehicle Description

1974 Z/28 Type LT 60,000 actual miles Berger Chevrolet Pro Touring Show Car!

Berger Chevrolet (The Grand Rapids MI Muscle Car Dealer of the 60's) Sponsored building this performance/show car Dubbed "project DZ-74" inspired by the original IROC series Race cars that began in 1974 for the original owner. 1st shown at the Grand Rapids Auto Rama January 2009. The car has been a trailer queen since and only been driven about 2,000 miles.

Exterior: Berger Chevrolet prepared the Z/28' Type LT Rust-free body. They smoothed it out and grafted a functional '80 cowl scoop onto the '74 hood. Painted in its original midnight blue with multi-color accent stripes. The car is Laser straight and glossy top to bottom. Up front it has the removable IROC spoiler and Marchel headlights. A set of 17-inch polished Team III Minilite wheels dress it up. 8-inch-wide in front, 9 inch in back with performance tires. All original glass as well.

Interior: The Type LT only interior is mostly all original. It has a new dash pad with A/C vents, Signature series Mark Donahue leather steering wheel, upgraded Vintage Air system. Alpine audio system has 6 speakers. Black carpets with Dyna mat throughout. The center console houses the Hurst shifter. Up above it has a new headliner, working dome light, key buzzer and has been given all new Painless wiring as well.

Engine Compartment: The Original #'s matching L-82 350 was rebuilt, balanced and blueprinted. It was tuned at 360 hp, 425 lbs. of torque. It has set of port matched heads, FAST port fuel injection system on an Edelbrock intake. It also has a Crane Ignition system and Cyclone AR-1 headers. It runs cool with a 4-core aluminum radiator, dual electric fans, and new polished aluminum serpentine system. The engine compartment is show quality. A lighter Mulsanne Blue is used throughout the engine bay, firewall and complete underside. The T-56 6-Speed really adds to the Fun factor as well!

Trunk Compartment: Wears its original spatter paint and mat. Battery is relocated there as well. Bottom of lid and jamb are painted as nice as the rest of the car.

Underside: Suspension is all rebuilt with too many upgrades to list. Up front has adjustable Global West suspension, larger sway bar and 12:1 quick ratio steering box. In back it has 2-inch lowered Detroit springs and Koni gas shocks and sway bar. Rear end was smoothed, powder coated and finned aluminum cover. It has 3.73 posi gears with Auburn axles. SSBC disc brakes at all 4 wheels with drilled and slotted rotors. The Front and back are tied together with welded in Global West frame connectors. The bottom of engine has an extra capacity chrome oil pan and high torque starter. Trans was upgraded with a T-56 6 speed, centerforce hydraulic clutch, Global West trans and subframe mounts and aluminum driveshaft. The fat 3-inch pypes exhaust system sounds awesome. Fuel tank, sending unit and straps were replaced. The floors are clean original owner's manual, protect-o-plate and more! Honestly, I could go on and on about this car, but you really need to look at all the details and take a ride in the Canyon Carver!

It is ready for car shows, cruise-in's or stop lights. Its ready for some great road time. If you want some excitement find a windy road, it handles like a sports car. Find some red lights, when they turn green, tromp on it and watch the cowl induction in action. The Overdrive trans and Vintage Air system makes it wonderfully comfortable for those relaxed days.
