Probably one of the best ones left. Beautiful restoration of a
black with red leather convertible. Engine upgraded to a 235 for
reliability. Runs and drives great. Many NOS parts used in the
restoration. Approx. 2,500 miles since restored.
Purchased by the current owner in 1997. The gentleman he purchased
it from had been collecting NOS parts for the restoration starting
in the 1960's. Unfortunately, he was never able to do the
restoration so all of the parts were passed to the current
owner.
The body was in good shape with only a few rust issues that were
metal finished. The entire car was taken to bare metal and treated
to a beautiful black paint job that still shows well today. Chrome
and stainless are beautiful as well as the glass. Original hubcaps
were professionally restored.
Interior was redone in red leather that looks (and smells) great.
Dash had the correct woodgraining done. All gauges and accessories
work great. Rare shortwave/AM radio works. Vacuum assist power top
works. Top is as new. All windows work as new.
The 235ci 6 cyl engine was rebuilt and an original NOS GM 3 speed
transmission was installed. Vacuum assist shifting works great.
Rear gears were changed to 3:55 for better driveability. Starts
right up and runs excellent.
Some of the NOS parts used in the restoration include: shocks,
transmission, radiator and core support, grille, lower front
valance, rocker moldings, some gauges and switches and clutch and
brake pedals.
Some added accessories like front bumper overide and rear trunk
guard, flying lady hood ornament, dual backup lights, signal lights
and genuine 1941 fog lights were added as well.
