The last of the air-cooled Porsche 911s, the 993 is the final
evolution of the storied air-cooled lineage from Porsche. The 993
boasts all of the innovations and refinement that Porsche learned
from building the 911 for 30+ years, creating a simple yet
distilled package of excellent driving dynamics, everyday comfort
and accessible performance. The Carrera retains the purity of the
original 911 with only rear wheel drive and a 6-speed manual
transmission. With an incredible amount of mechanical grip and a
direct driving experience with enough power to get into trouble
with, the 993 Carrera is a fantastic performer in all
conditions.
This 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera was originally purchased and shipped
to Pray Porsche of Greenwich, Connecticut. Heavily optioned from
the factory, the Carrera received a number of popular (and
expensive) upgrades: Slate Grey Metallic paint, Grey Interior
Leather Seats, Porsche Floor Mat - Classic Grey, Torque Limited
Slip Differential with ABD, Heated Front Seat Package, Power Seat
Package, Digital Sound Package/Hi-Fi Sound, AM/FM Radio Cassette
Player, Painted rims in exterior color, Rim Caps with Porsche
Crest, Factory Deletion of Rear Model Designation, Lumbar Support
Drivers Seat, Remote "CD" Changer (6 Disc), and Supple Leather
Front and Rear. Altogether, the MSRP for the Slate Grey Carrera was
$71,535, of that was over $10,000 in options!
This Porsche 911 Carrera is a remarkable preservation and survivor
example, being over 25 years old with the car only covering 2,839
miles since it was delivered. Every part of the car from the
factory finishes, mechanical pieces, to the factory materials feel
as if they are new.
The first owner of the Carrera purchased the car in Connecticut
where the car would remain for close to 18 years. The car brought
to Porsche of Fairfield, Connecticut in 2003 and was offered for
sale at the same dealerships almost a decade later in 2013.
Remarkably, by the time the car was offered for sale for the first
time it had only amassed a paltry 1,692 miles. In 2016 the Carrera
moved to Colorado where it spent approximately 3 years, during that
time receiving service work from Porsche of Colorado Springs. The
most recent owner purchased the car in June of 2019, where the
Slate Grey Carrera came to Canepa in early 2020.
The term "time capsule" is a term to describe something that seems
as though it has been perfectly preserved. In the case of this 1995
Porsche 911 Carrera, that term doesn't describe enough about the
level of quality that it retains from the factory. With only 2,839
original miles on the odometer over the past 25 years, every
surface finish, material, and component look as though they were
just assembled by the capable hands of Stuttgart. Sitting inside
the cabin for just a few minutes, the wafting scent of new leather
still lingers and the leather feels like it was freshly wrapped on
every surface. Controls click and move in the way that only new
parts do, in this case just from the absence of someone constantly
using it. The transmission shifts effortlessly and slots into each
gear with ease, and even the doors close with no discernable
effort. This is as close as you can get to buying a new
factory-delivered 993 Carrera.
Canepa performed a minor concours-level detailing to the car with
some light foam-pad polishing to enhance the Slate Grey metallic
paint finish, but a car such as this needed very little. The
ability to enjoy and experience something in an undiluted and
unmodified way is a rare occurrence in this day and age. Being able
to get into a Porsche 911 after 25 years and feel and smell how the
car would have been delivered to its first owner from the showroom
is a priceless and memorable event that many will never get to
truly enjoy. Now is the opportunity to take a trip back and time to
1995 and experience an as-new Porsche 911.
