Vehicle Description
This 1987 Buick Grand National has the dark heart attitude we love
from these turbocharged coupes. So it's hard to resist a
numbers-matching and highly original example - especially since its
loaded with all the best features, including T-tops.
This is a documented mileage coupe, and so it has averaged less
than 1,400 miles annually. The condition of the body panels and
their gaps prove that it's not only low-mileage, but also this one
has been well-respected. These are absolutely mean machines with
the black bumpers, blackout grille, and not a bit of shiny body
trim. This famous black paint looks to be the original factory
application. The finish is far from perfect, but it has the
well-earned look that the survivor crowd loves. And the price on
this Grand National does leave room in the budget for a respray,
but there's always something extra attractive about originality.
The power bulge in the hood, full-width spoiler, and Vector wheels
are all part of a package that makes sure we never mistake this for
any other kind of pedestrian Buick out there.
The interior is highly original and absolutely loaded. It starts
with the attractive two-tone black and gray seats. They show the
clean look of a low-mileage machine, and they are nicely detailed,
right down to the Grand National logos in the front headrests. This
has terrific features, like power windows, power locks, cruise
control, power steering, alarm, center console, rear defogger, and
the factory AM/FM cassette stereo. The air conditioning is blowing
cold with modern R134a. So feel free to take out the T-tops and
enjoy the open air experience even in the summer. And the GN was
truly made for driving. Your seat power adjusts to the individual
ideal driving position. The three-spoke steering wheel is on a tilt
column to give you a clear view of the optional digital gauge
package. Plus, this was upgraded with a large AutoMeter Autogage
tach on the column and a boost readout on the A-pillar.
Buick's 3.8-liter fuel-injected V6 was given a turbocharger, and
that really changed the game in the 1980s. It instantly turned this
Buick into a Corvette contender. So with something this
significant, it's great to have the numbers-matching unit under the
hood. It's a true powerhouse, and it fires up and runs with the
kind of gusto that signals it has been as well-respected as the
rest of this coupe. Buick upgraded the suspension for performance
duty with a thick sway bar in front and one in the rear. You also
have power brakes w/discs up front and newer Kumho tires. But
remember, the four-speed automatic transmission is not only there
for swift shifting action but also for overdrive comfort. So while
this is quite quick, it also still know how to be a nice cruising
Buick.
The sale comes complete with the owner's manual and service
manuals. This is a true icon with true low miles. So if you love a
