Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass
Hurst Edition for your consideration. It is powered by a 5.0L V8
motor which pushed out 190 horsepower through an automatic
transmission to the rear wheels. Plenty separated the Hurst edition
from the standard Cutlass. One major difference was the use of
Hurst Lightning Rod shifters which allowed for a clutchless
manual-like driving experience with the use of an automatic
transmission. The Lightning Rods allowed for the driver to take
control of the timing of upshifts and downshifts.
All Hurst special editions were finished in the desirable Black
with Silver skirt separated with red striping. It features a red
cloth interior with wood accents and an analog dashboard. Other
highlights include Power Steering, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning,
Cruise, Tilt, AM/FM Cassette, Power Driver Seat, Power Trunk
Release, Clock, Power Antenna, Dual Mirrors with Inside Adjust,
Hurst T-Tops, etc.
Today as a result of consistent care, limited use, and proper
storage, the car remains in excellent all-around original
condition. The cloth interior remains excellent original in all
areas, the paint remains excellent, the engine compartment is tidy
and detailed. Mechanically the vehicle remains very fit and is a
blast to drive.
This car was purchased new at Matson Oldsmobile-Cadillac in
Muskegon, Michigan. The car has remained in the caring hands of its
original owner until it was passed down onto his grandson and
brought here to be offered to the global market.
The Mid 80's were strange times for performance car enthusiasts.
The glory days of the muscle car era were now 15 years in the dust.
Car manufactures were promoting miles per gallon instead of
horsepower. Front-wheel drive, fuel injection, strut suspensions,
and electronic dashboards have now taken over the wonderful
simplicity of power with the rear-wheel application. To celebrate a
fifteen-year alliance between performance icon Hurst and
Oldsmobile, the W40 Hurst Oldsmobile 15th Anniversary edition was
created with a back to basics approach: Body on frame construction,
control arm front suspension and a powerful V8 driving a live rear
axle. All were built in Lansing, MI, and were shipped to secondary
manufacturer, Cars and Concepts, for Hurst modifications. The 84
Hurst Olds captured the essence of an era when performance and
style was king.
The relationship between Hurst and Oldsmobile is legendary.
Oldsmobile is an upscale brand of General Motors, also took its
performance very seriously and its performance-based Hurst
Cutlasses remain revered in all automotive circles. The 1984
Anniversary editions are already considered a future classic and
now is an excellent time to exercise the opportunity on American
automotive investment. Please call or email with any questions or
