Not only is this 1970 Chevrolet Corvette highly original (right
down to is big block under the hood,) but also it's loaded with
features (including an A/C interior.) It's even properly documented
with the factory buildsheet. So the deeper you dig, the more you'll
see how this is great for far more than just its big power.
This is a desirable year for a Stingray. Chrome bumpers, rockers,
trim and big Rally wheels make for a great classic American
brightwork package. And this even has the optional luggage rack,
too. This is a highly original car, and so it's great to see the
factory-correct Cortez Sliver continuing to look good in the
sunshine. The finish is far from perfect, but for Corvette people,
there's added value in this survivor-like presentation. And also,
there's just an everlasting appeal to the long front and short rear
deck look of the C3. The big block hood, wide exhaust tips, and
raised white letter tires are all part of that classic package that
is pure intimidation.
The factory-correct black interior looks great against the silver,
and just like the exterior, this has a highly original appearance.
The bucket seats, door panels, carpeting, and center console all
have a complete appearance, and just the right amount of aging so
that it looks quite correct. This has the right original features,
including power windows. And there are also the right
well-integrated upgrades, like the retro-style AM/FM digital tuner.
Not only can you take the T-tops out, but also this is from the
years of the removable rear window. So since you can have a
convertible-like experience, it's particularly nice to also have
the factory air conditioning blowing cold with modern R134a. The
steering wheel moves to get closer to you; the speedo and tach are
large enough to be competition-sized; and there's a full set of
auxiliary readouts all at eye-level. Oh yes, the C3 was built to be
a true driver's machine.
Power comes from the matching-numbers 454 cubic inch big block V8.
Not only is this a desirable powerplant, but also we have a decade
of receipts documenting its maintenance. That's why this is such a
strong-running package. It inhales deeply from a correct Quadrajet
four-barrel carburetor, and it exhales with a sweet sound out of
the dual exhaust. The TH400 three-speed transmission give a nice
balance of stout construction and easy automatic shifting. In fact,
it has plenty of other great features for both performance and
luxury. This includes the fully independent suspension, power
steering, four-wheel power disc brakes, and wide firestone Firehawk
tires.
Complete with factory buildsheet and maintenance records, this is a
highly original package of a Stingray born with the right colors
and the right heart. So don't let this ideal classic slip away.
