Vehicle Description
We don't have to tell you that this one is special. The shining
polished bare aluminum body already makes this a beacon of
distinction. But more than just look special, this is 1 of only 50
examples ever made of the 1965 Shelby Cobra 427 50th Anniversary
Edition. And since this car has never been titled and has less than
100 miles on it, this is your opportunity to basically be the first
owner of this instant classic.
The 427 Cobra crossed the half-century mark in 2015. Shelby
American celebrated this milestone with 50 official special edition
cars. These were available as either fiberglass bodies or there was
a $60k aluminum upgrade. So you can start to see how this one is
already in ultra-rare territory even before you think about how
there is no name yet on the title! The distinction on this one goes
far beyond the mirror-like reflection of the precision alloy body.
This celebrates the best of the competition-ready Cobras, and does
it with extra style. You see it in places like the brushed aluminum
stripe package, and the genuine pin-drive knock-off wheels with
Shelby engraved spinners. Plus, there are more great details, like
the shining quick jack bumpers, racing-style gas tank, chrome roll
hoop, and even the Goodyear tires have the racing-style billboard
lettering. It is a highly detailed total package.
A special car like this means they took the time to get the
interior authentic. Low-back racing bucket seats are finished in a
supple leather; the gearstick is angled forward; and this has a
race-ready fire extinguisher system. The dash is dominated by a
special Carroll Shelby full gauge package, and this includes the
proper reversed speedometer. You even have a heater added, just so
that this can be more comfortable on those fall drives. Plus, there
are special 50th anniversary markings on the carpeting and
wood-rimmed sports steering wheel.
Under the hood is exactly what this car deserves: serious big block
muscle. It started out as an all-aluminum FE block with the magical
427 displacement. Then Carroll Shelby Race Engines got ahold of it,
and they bored and stroked it to a massive 526ci total. More than
just displacement, this was enhanced and fortified with Mahle
pistons, Billet crank, Billet H-beam rods, coated bearings, solid
roller, fully ported Shelby aluminum heads, Holley four-barrel
carb, and more. It was fully balanced, blue printed, and dyno
tested for performance. So you have a powerful big block that came
directly from the engine company Carroll Shelby established (likely
costing around $85k just for the motor.) That gave this one a true
pedigree. And the Tremec TKO600 five speed knows how to handle all
that big power while also giving you full control of the thunder
coming from the side pipes. The undercarriage photos are another
reminder of how fresh this car is. Plus, you'll spot the strong
powder-coated tubular frame and strong arms of the fully
independent suspension. You also have rack & pinion steering and
Wilwood four-wheel disc brakes. So this is the collectable that's
also built to burn up the track.
The sale comes complete with the original bill of sale, factory
buildsheet, and build receipts. This is an exceptional opportunity
to be the first recorded owner of rare car built in the tradition
of a grand legend. You already know how special this is, so don't
let it slip away. Call now!
