Vehicle Description
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this astonishing 1939 Buick
Special! This mint classic comes in a brilliant maroon paint job
complemented by a spotless gray interior. Powering the Buick is
believed to be the original, numbers matching 248 cubic inch 8
cylinder motor mated to a smooth shifting manual transmission. A
full restoration is believed to have been completed roughly 10
years ago and the vehicle still shows extremely well. Upgrades to
the Special include a 12 volt conversion and an upgraded rear end
making this vehicle a lot easier to live with. So, if you're in the
market for a museum piece you can actually use, this Buick is an
excellent option for you. Please call or email us today for more
information.
The Buick Special was an automobile produced by Buick. It was
usually Buick's lowest-priced model, starting out as a full-size
car in 1936 and returning in 1938 (after a two-year hiatus) as a
mid-size. From 1936 to 1958, Buick's Special model range
represented the marque's entry level full-size automobile. The '36
was a very successful year for Buick and also marked the first time
of using names rather than the simple serial numbers which had been
in use before. The Special continued to also be known as the
40-series, however. The first Specials rode on a 118 in wheelbase,
but for the next model year this was increased to 122 in as all
Buick's grew for that year. The engine was also new, and was now of
248 cu in rather than 233 cu in. The Special underwent a full
restyling for 1939, with a more enclosed nose and a wider grille.
The wheelbase was also two inches shorter.
