Introduced at the1984 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari Testarossa
caused an immediate sensation; its brash, angular design would go
on to be well-represented in popular media (not to mention in
innumerable bedroom-wall posters), and it is today viewed as
automotive shorthand for an entire unforgettable era.
Being a Ferrari, however, the Testarossa was as much about speed
and power as it was Pininfarina-designed style-and from the wail of
its Tipo 113A 4.9-liter DOHC naturally aspirated flat-12 to the
feel of its gated five-speed manual transmission, it offers a
driving experience unmatched by today's performance cars.
This car, chassis number ZFFTA17B000057389, is an early
single-mirror "Monospecchio" Testarossa finished in Rosso Corsa
over a beige and brown interior. Delivered new to official Ferrari
dealer Alajda Automotive in Amman, Jordan, it remained in that
country only a short time before being imported to the United
States and sold to noted Clemson University soccer coach (and
well-known Ferrari aficionado) I.M. Ibrahim in South Carolina.
In 1988 it was purchased by the consigning family; throughout this
long-term ownership, it is said to have been consistently
maintained by Intrepid Motorcar Company of Sparks, Nevada. As
documented by invoices totalling nearly $45,000, the car underwent
major service in the first half of 2020. The scope of the work
performed ranged from big ticket maintenance items-the installation
of new timing belts, a new clutch, a new main seal, a rebuilt water
pump, and more-down to repair of the car's iconic pop-up
headlights.
Exterior paint, believed to be original, exhibits some rock chips
and other minor wear typical for a car of this mileage (the
odometer displays 58,579 km, or ~36,400 miles); a new dashboard
freshens up the tidy, well-preserved interior. The car is currently
fitted with a Tubi Style exhaust system, though the original
exhaust is included with the sale.
A largely original, unrestored Testarossa, this car has benefitted
from decades of single-family enjoyment paired with scrupulous
upkeep. It is offered with a service history from the year 2000
onward, owner's manuals, original warranty card, tools, spare keys,
jack and spare tire, and its original exhaust system. To view this
