Steve decided to sell the car in 2014 after many years of enjoyment. He consigned it to the Mecum Auction located in Kissimmee, FL. Coincidentally MS CLASSIC CARS owner Marc Schiliro attended that auction and checked out this car from top to bottom. He thought it was one of the best and so did a lot of other people. It ended up selling on Friday January 24th, 2014 for $185,000.00. The gentleman who purchased the car invested well over $200,000.00 including the auction commission, sales tax and shipping. This gentleman lived in Ohio and treated this car with TLC. He enjoyed the car with his son taking it to car shows and occasional rides around town. He decided after six years of ownership it was time to sell the car. MS CLASSIC CARS purchased the car in May of 2020. Since the restoration was completed it only has been driven a total of 2,683 miles. MS CLASSIC CARS nicknamed the car “Ruby” because of the color. Eleanor, meet your sister Ruby.
The exterior of this car is outstanding and absolutely gorgeous. The design of this car with this body kit has proven to be a huge hit. The body work fit and finish is excellent unlike most of the second generation Mustangs with body kits. During the restoration most of the sheet metal was replaced. It sports a fiberglass GT500 hood with re-fabricated louvers and billet hood pins. The custom front nose aligns to the hood and fenders beautifully. The custom fender moldings, lower moldings with exhaust cut outs and side scoops are molded onto the body with no seams. The custom rear deck lid, quarter caps, rear panel, rear bumper and lower valiance also align beautifully. The body is very straight with excellent gaps throughout. The hood, doors and deck lid close very nicely. The car was finished in PPG Base/Clear Redfire Metallic paint with Gray Super Snake stripes. This color combination works perfectly together and is stunning in the sunlight. The paint job is high show quality and ocean deep throughout. The Super Snake stripes and the lower rocker stripes were painted on and clear coated over. All of the glass is new and tinted throughout. All of the window trim including the side vents was restored or replaced and looks brilliant. Some of the exterior appointments include chrome dual Shelby style mirrors, custom upper and lower front grill, custom lights and rear quarter Shelby gas cap with functioning filler. It has a great stance on Raceline 239-GT polished wheels that are 18x8 on the front and 18x10 on the back. The wheels are wrapped with Nitto NT555 tires that are 245/40/ZR18 on the front and 275/40/ZR18 on the back.
The interior of this car is also outstanding and absolutely gorgeous. The black interior really complements the Redfire Metallic with Gray stripes. The cabin was stripped to an empty shell during the restoration and was covered with heat and sound insulation. Everything in the interior was replaced new including such items as the headliner, sun visors, rear view mirror, dash pad, dash, dash hardware, door sills, door panels, seats, carpeting etc. Some of the custom features include four-point roll bar with G-Force Pro Series harness, chrome fire extinguisher, stainless trim throughout, Autometer Pro-Comp Ultra-Lite white face gauges, brushed tilt steering column, Moto-Lita wood steering wheel, TCP pedals, Procar bucket seats, matching folding rear seat, center console with storage compartment, TKO shifter with black shift knob, Alpine stereo head unit, kick panel speakers, and carpeted floor mats with Cobra logo. The engine compartment is highly detailed with many custom features throughout. Jack Roush signed the backside bottom of the hood. The hood is supported with billet hood hinges that were added by MS CLASSIC CARS. The firewall, inner fenders and radiator support was painted the body color which looks amazing. The gray Super Snake stripes continue down on the inside of the cowl area. The Total Control Products tower and fender brace adds stability. The car is powered by a Roush Performance aluminum 468 FE V8 w/ 500+HP. Some of the engine details include a Shelby aluminum block, 4.25-inch bore, 4.18 inch stroke, Scat forged steel crankshaft, Scat forged steel connecting rods, Wiseco forged aluminum pistons, Edelbrock FE aluminum cylinder heads, 2.09-inch intake/1.66-inch exhaust valves, port-matched, Harland Sharp, 1.76:1 roller rocker arms, Crane hydraulic roller camshaft, 302/308 advertised duration, 0.598/0.616-inch lift at 0.050, Edelbrock aluminum intake manifold and 10:1 compression. The engine is cooled by a Be-Cool aluminum radiator with dual electric fans and a billet over fill canister. The engine breathes through FPA long tube ceramic coated headers and a 2 ½ stainless exhaust system with SpinTech mufflers. The side exhaust exits the cut outs in the lower rocker molding and sounds awesome. The engine is coupled to a Tremec TKO 5-speed manual transmission. It’s equipped with a McLeod 12-inch clutch and a Roush Performance billet steel flywheel. This clutch is easy to operate and shifting through the gears is a blast. The power is transferred through the Chris Alston’s Chassisworks Fab9 9-inch POSI rear end. It has a Strange Engineering third member, 31-spline axles and 3.70 gears.
