Vehicle Description
1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon
If you're interested in a vehicle that can seat your whole family -
and then some - you may look at a minivan, or possibly a full-size
SUV. Or you can go a different route: You can buy this 1995 Buick
Roadmaster Estate Wagon, which is like reliving the giant cars of
the 1970's in a 1990's body. For those of you who don't know the
Roadmaster Estate Wagon, here's a little overview. The Buick
Roadmaster has been sold since the 1930s in some form or another,
generally taking the role as Buick's flagship product. The
final-generation Roadmaster, which came out in 1991, was offered in
two body styles: You could get a massive sedan, or you could get a
massive wagon. The wagon was called the "Estate Wagon," which may
seem redundant as the European term for "wagon" is "estate" - until
you realize they probably named it that because it's the size of an
actual estate.
An amazingly preserved in all of its 220 inches, an Estate Wagon
from 1995 is taking up some serious space here in our hallowed
halls of Classic Auto Mall. Overall this car is in wonderful
condition, has a 260hp LT-1 engine, and as consigner states "Hauls
Ass" (and I might add plenty of them due to its plentiful and
generous seating setup).
Exterior
In its aerodynamically designed form, this wagon is bathed in White
and has the "woody" side panels. A nice Buick grille is upfront,
some integrated headlights and lower body matching bumper are seen.
Then the long straight steel slabs take over and run rearward,
making up the overall design and function of this car....to haul
people and their stuff. Wood applique with a contrasting rounded
over wood edging covers the mid-section and shows some scratches
and peeling of the applique. Above and below are more White painted
steel. A black trim separates the panels and covers the rockers
too. Big panoramic tinted windows are all around and are flush with
the door panels to save on that air disturbance. The top has a
tinted glass bubble sunroof cover for extra light over the front
passengers, which melts into a steel panel with roof rack ribbing,
and perpendicular roof rack bars (so you can haul more stuff!). On
back a rounded rear glass opens in tandem with the dual swinging
and opening lower gate to allow access to the rear storage area,
complete with an additional bench seat. On all 4 corners are silver
painted steel wheels with center chromed dog dish style caps and
deep chromed trim rings.
Interior
Opening the doors and you can have a pick of your seat with 3
benches available. The front in blue leather are overstuffed
buckets, extra wide with a lowering and raising central arm rest or
when up a seat for 1 more. Next row is a long bench for 3 more, and
in back another flip up bench for an additional 2 adults or 3 kids.
The second and third row can be completely flattened to give you
about the cargo space of the average pickup truck, only with a roof
over its bed. The blue vinyl dash with some wood applique on it
sits up front, and doors utilize these materials as well. On the
doors we note power windows, power locks, power seat and mirror
power controls and imbedded "concert sound" speakers. A full car
climate control system is installed and an AM/FM/Cassette is also
noted within the dash. Blue carpet fairly clean covers all the
floors and a blue headliner is above nice and tight.
Drivetrain
A consigner stated 260hp 350ci LT-1 Engine with electronic fuel
injection and a 4L60E 4-speed automatic transmission on back on
back is shoehorned into the engine bay. All is unrestored although
clean. A 10-bolt rear with 2.56 gears is on back.
Undercarriage
Underneath some surface rust, and heavy corrosion, covers the steel
parts underneath. All appears structurally sound though, despite
the surface rust and corrosion. This car will require a new exhaust
pipe to muffler system as rust through is noted on these.
Independent coil springs and power disc brakes are upfront, and on
back, trailing arm and coil springs as well as power drum brakes
are on.
Drive-Ability
Hopping in it was like the Griswolds going for a road trip, save
all the impending scripted disasters, this car fired right up, and
drove like a dream. Plenty of acceleration, plenty of interior room
for passengers or cargo, and a smooth driver and cruiser. It
stopped on a dime, and all functions functioned.
Instead of that "toaster" or SUV, why not have a classic to haul
around in with this well-kept 1995 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon.
All 220 inches of it, all 350ci LT-1 performance of it, all seats
and space to romp around in? Right here now at Classic Auto
Mall.
