Vehicle Description
1971 Chevrolet C10 Pickup
The 1967-72 Chevrolet C/K is one of the most popular, reliable, and
easiest-to-drive classic pickups you can find. This particular
generation marks the turning point when Chevy realized it could
offer truck buyers modern conveniences and comfort options in the
same way it did sedan shoppers-a stunningly simple connection to
make in retrospect, but one that blew the market wide open during a
time when primary rival Ford steadfastly refusing to build anything
other than the most utilitarian models for work use.
Getting its namesake from Henry Ford where the customer would
literally use the Model T with a bed added to "pick up" various
things to haul to another location. The name stuck. Here we have a
beautifully restored bowtie version 71 C-10 with performance
upgrades aplenty, smooth panels, no rust, a snappy interior, and
just an overall good looker. A custom bed cover complete with a
lock keeps all your "stuff" secure in back. As consigner states
"very well sorted" and can run down the highway at 70MPH with
little to no effort.
Exterior
With its laser straight steel panels in abundance, all awash in
Charcoal Gray, and highlighted with perfectly aligned side
trimmings on the belt line plus the rockers. Upfront a simplified
horizontal bar grille with the centrally located bowtie and single
flanking headlights is all gleaming brightly with a factory shine.
Side marker lights and taillights are now encircled with black
bezels, and pristine badging is on the sides. A chromed rear bumper
remains and like the front is just perfect. A nicely coated bed in
flat black shows little wear and is topped with a dual piston
dampened top with a white reflective interior, and a lock mechanism
to secure the goods. 5 spoke torque thrust-esque wheels are all
around and wrapped in new rubber.
Interior
A swing of the doors and what to my wandering eyes should appear
but white embossed herringbone patterned leather with ultra padded
and stitched smooth panels making up the door insides. Billet style
handles are now neatly placed within these panels. Some black
carpet is below just for contrast. Inside is nothing short of
spectacular with tuck and roll inserts and smooth bolsters in a
bench format, in keeping with the profile of the door panels.
Upfront is the stock looking same shaped dash but now totally
chromed and AutoMeter white faced gauges inserted. Black shiny
paint takes over the remainder of the dash which has an AM/FM/CD
player driving amps, woofers and tweeters for a killer sound. More
gauges hang below the dash to monitor the essentials. A wood rimmed
rally tilt wheel with power steering fronts the dash, and below is
nice black carpet flooding the floor. Even the headliner is
impressive with more tuck and roll and embossed bowties on the
visors all also in leather.
Drivetrain
In a fully restored engine bay, a consigner stated "Big Block" (CI
displacement unknown due to no stampings on engine) is all polished
and presenting in showstopper status. An Edelbrock power 500 plus
LP kit is now strapped on and in back is a Gearstar Level 2 700R4
automatic transmission. Way back is a 12 bolt posi-traction
rear.
Undercarriage
Highlights underneath include a new aluminum fuel tank, and an air
bagged rear suspension. Upfront are dropped A arms, and power disc
brakes for the front and power drums on the rear. No rust, all
restored and looking fine underneath.
Drive-Ability
This 71 fired right up and on the test track performed flawlessly.
Great handling, snappy acceleration, straight bias free panic
stopping, and overall comfort for the custom interior.
Well done, all buttoned up, and just very nicely presenting is
pretty much summing it up on this classic truck. A favorite among
the classic trucks, the C-10 from 1971 has extras, tasteful mods,
and a healthy mill. Also, a beautiful exterior will not kick this
baby out of bed for eating crackers! And I leave you with a pickup
line: "Ever been to heaven?...I can have you there and back by
morning!!" Hop in..
